Book Cliffs Private Ranches

Yes, I have a question that no one has really answered yet. I have had some good responses but no legitimacy yet. I have asked the DWR on map boundaries but they have always just referenced me to the maps and unit boundaries of the DWR on their website. I would like specific locations of private ranches out on the books and acreage. Are the ranches fenced off? Are the ranches posted? Any outfitters on the private ranches? Does the BLM know the boundaries? I am curious to what is considered private property out in the books. Anybody know?

For specifics like that you may have to call, or most likely go into a city/county building to the clerks office.(or where ever the records for land ownership are kept).

They wouldn't know if the land was posted or fenced off, but acrage and exact location of ranches would be held there. You could also get land owner phone numbers to call and find out if its posted, or if they have outfitters working the area?

Just my thoughts on the matter?

When you talk private and book cliffs you automatically think of the side north of green river in the Range Creek side. I could go on all day listing landowners on that side. Now are you talking the side southwest of greenriver, like the actual deer units?

A BLM 1:100,000 scale LANDOWNER map will show you ownerships. For the Book Cliffs, you will need Westwater and Seep Ridge. Much of the private property is not posted. If you need to find individual landowner names, you will need to go to the county recorders. I dont think you will find any private preserves out there that is any better than the public land. Good luck though.
