Hi I am new to MM Just wanted to know if you guys had info on the dolores tri muzzy tag? Good, bad, pic, ect.I have 6 points and should draw it next year if choose to put in for it. I noticed that it was a later hunt is it a winter range?

I have never hunted this area, but from what I remember reading in the past, this area is largely dependant on snow. Bad weather pushes the deer out of CO, and the deer winter on the UT side. I believe this can be a good hunt for a nice buck. I know that if I had any points for deer in UT, that this is probably the hunt that I would be trying to draw. Good luck n drawing the tag. Scott

I drew it in 03. It can be a good hunt, it just does depend alot on the weather though. However, if you dont get the weather, you can still find pretty good resident bucks down by the river with a little luck and alot of time spent behind some quality optics. Best of luck with the upcoming draw!

No, I opted not to pull the triger, although i had several oportunities on medium sized bucks, just not the wall hager i was after. That year we did not get the weather to push them out of CO. I think that for the most part success was fairly low on the unit. If you pull the tag, give me a call and I'll be happy to mark up some maps for you. Best of luck to you!

Its a late hunt and they aren't exactly re-writing the record book with bucks out of there or unit 40 in Colorado which is where the deer migrate from. Too many years of managing for elk in 40 and letting the deer herd go by the wayside.
