Well my elk hunt ended on a sour note. Last day of the hunt and we were headed by a piece of private land the Tribe owns and we spot a herd a elk feeding in the meadows. So we drive around to a gate, go into our property and walk towards the meadow we heard the bull gathering his cows. So we changed plans I sent the 2 guys who were with me on down while I went around to get ahead of where I thought they would come out (heard a distant bugle didnt think nothing of it). As I was walking/running to get into position I got into a 2nd group that was coming out . BAM legs and brown rumps running.. so I jus kept going because I knew that other bunch was still in there.

I was in a area that was slash piled and a bull bugled in front of me So i was waiting for it to come out and then the group in the meadow came hauling ass like they were on fire (they got the wind of someone). I thought my bull was getting away so I pursued them DOH (rookie mistake)

Didn't find out till I walked back to the truck the other bugle I heard was #####*ng tresspassing poachers but I didnt get to see them (poaching a**holes)one of the guys I was hunting with caught em coming out. .and get this the criminals acted all pissed we ruined their illegal hunt. One of the cowards mouthed a profanity at my hunting partner but kept walking and the other a-hole was told do you know your on private land and this inbreeder just said yep and kept walking man I wish I was there to beat some poachers ass. Missed out on my bull and dishing out a good beating.

Why do some hunters think its their right to hunt wherever they please ?

id hardly call those a**es hunters. poachers are a fitting word for them. id definately keep an eye out for them cause people like that dont care that a season has started or ended.

How do you know for sure they were poachers? Maybe they also had permission to be there and you did mess up thier hunt. Did you ask the landowner/s if he/she allowed anyone else access? Either way sorry to here about the bum luck. Chances are if they were poachers they proably had more then just a blunt tip back in the truck remember "Never take a bow to a gun fight" Anyway good luck next timeout.
Sorry just reread were they on your property? if so you should have followed them out and turn thier plate number in to the fish and game people.

I know they didnt belong there because I manage those lands the Tribe owns and people have to get permission to access from my dept.

I was like 1/4 mile away chasing after the herd that was spooked and didnt get back in time to get the opp to confront those yahoo's they were long gone by the time I got there but i did hear the sounds of a diesel racing thru dirt roads a ridge or two over (jabroni's thinking they could catch up with em again). Man trust people to show honor and respect posted property and this is what you get.

May they fall on a broadhead with their rectums !!

As much as I hate seeing all the posted private property and resricted access. The members of our party know that you just don't cross the line. When I purchase property in the Eastern OR I'm sure that I will have a have to contend with these situations and I can only hope that I don't have to shoot someone (ha ha).
