LAST EDITED ON Aug-20-08 AT 11:46PM (MST)[p]here are the pics,
we had a blast, what a great unit, it is well managed and the deer are thriving, i would recommend this hunt to anyone wanting an archery buck.

the hard part was finding a deer with 4 on each side without being crabby.

alicia got her buck saturday afternoon, she made a awesome 45 yard shot, good blood trail and easy find. it is her 1st ever bow hunt.

mine
20" 4x4 24 tall
he was 66 yards, he went about 70 yards after my shot.
i took this buck for several reasons, but mainly i liked his look, heavy, nice forks, tall and symmetrical. dad was with me,
there are bigger deer out there but i'm happy,

and ya the wifes is wider. and i could not be happier.

That crab claw gene is quite prevalent in the Books but it looks like you found a real nice, pretty buck. Good for you guys!

Good job man, now it is my turn. I head out tonight for a week. Don't forget about my T-shirt.

Sombich! I was the really good looking dude that came and congradulated you right before you left. Again awesome buck. The only other swingin' meat I saw was an absolute hawg some guy had over more by Colorado. The elk proved more difficult for me.

Congratulations, nice bucks all around.

did you ever find the elk?
might have to wait them out, get the rut to start and get them screaming. none of the elk we say mad a peep.

good luck. when you going back out?

Rifle,
I saw elk everyday. Passed on a few spikes, but a no-brainer there though. Found a few good bands of elk but the herd bulls were only 5's. The cows were talking from time-to-time but the bulls were pretty much silent and not receptive to calls. Made for a hard hunt with too many eyeballs and noses in the herds to work a stalk.

I plan on going back up for the entire last week of the hunt and make it count like no other.

who ya got going?
if interested i can see about more time off work,
at least give ya another set of eyeballs

Rifle,
Congrats man-great bucks for both you and your wife. That is a great hunt out there-I can't wait to draw my elk tag, so I can start putting in out there.

I was looking for you while we were out there, but never did see your rig. Where did you hunt mostly? You can PM if you want.

Congrats again,

Cory
