When elk come in droves...

The area that I have hunted the past several years has been affected (negatively/positively?) by the resurgence of elk. There are huge numbers of elk roaming where the deer used to. The deer no longer spend time in the high alpine meadows where they used to.

There are still good numbers of deer on the winter range so they haven't vanished they've just changed locations.

What habitat is second on the list of mule deer preferences? I'm sure that some of you have noticed the same permanent migration, so where did the deer go in your areas?

I have a Dutton tag and I also have notice the lack of deer, I have seen alot more deer in the low country. WAY low, down near farmers fields and junipers and sage.

Thanks for the reply

Have you noticed only the does and fawns down low or are the bucks down there too?

It only makes sense that a deer would move as far away from those stinky, loud elk as it could.

Maybe rougher and steeper?
