Pauns bucks?

I have seen 1 buck that is giant! I do not have permission or even know who the hunter is but boy what a buck! Utah has produced some giant deer so far!

I am good friends with the individual that killed the buck your talking about, I have pictures but dont have permission to post. Needless to say its a GIANT. So far I have heard of only one other buck, the 322 buck, that has been killed this year that is bigger.

That is a good looking deer, my friends deer grossed 232 with a 214 main frame. Its pretty amazing, the guy deserves it, he hunts his a$$ off. That is the second buck over 200 inches he has killed with a bow. I am sure at some point the pictures will be posted.

I have seen the 230+ non-typical...what a dandy!

He sure sat in that treestand for like almost 2 weeks....

I do not have permission to post them or I would.....

Surf over to the other MM (MuleyMadness.com), there are some great pictures of some Paunsaugunt bow kills in the Archery/Bowhunting - Big Game section. Enjoy!

Sounds like man love to me coyote....
What are you doing on this site? Don't you have a tag to fill?

LAST EDITED ON Sep-03-08 AT 08:58PM (MST)[p]My 2008 Pauns buck, 13X12 with double drops. Seen this buck two weeks before the hunt and he was in the top 7 of possibles that I was interested in. This is the buck my 13 yr. old wanted me to shoot, Just happens he's the first one to give me the shot.

What a great buck, I would love to see the other 6 in the top 7 they must of been some monsters.

Here's a Pauns buck that I got in an email today. No disrespect to the hunter but I think this was a waste of a tag.

Seen the kid in my travels, also seen the buck during scouting trips. Everybody was calling him the antelope buck. Seen him during the hunt several times traveling with a low 190's 4X4. If this guy is the one I think it is, and I'm sure I am, He was hunting with a "bare bow" meaning no cams, no sights etc. The Pauns has many bucks that are not sporting family jewels. We seen 6 such bucks in our travels, One that tempted me on the second day at 37 yards. He had two Very large clumps of what looked to be cockleburs on his head, so big around they overlapped at the bases, over the sides and back of his head and almost to his eye's. He probably had 30 to 40 points ranging from 1 to 3 inches long. Off his left side he had 1 point that was about 20-22" long sticking straight out. These bucks look odd, and don't score well but make a great conversation piece.

I couldn't disagree more.
I'd arrow that buck in a heartbeat. To each his own.

Congrats to both!!

The trophy is definitely in the eye of the beholder!!

Those are some good looking bucks. I wonder why there are so many stags/cactus bucks down there?

10+ years of applying, and you would take a big carpet antlered spike??? You're gross!

Love the double dropper! Great buck.

The other one... looks like a disgusting fool buck that I would never shoot even on a general muzzy hunt.

totally a sweet buck man! double droppers are very unique. nice work!

"Hunt hard or go home!"

Congrats to you all! Great bucks! That is the cool thing about hunting. We each pick the bucks we want to kill. To each his own is right. If you don't like it don't shoot it! Not to cool to belittle someone elses harvest. Good job guy's!

like to see your video some day. I borrowed my nice video camera to a friend of mine who is a guide because they were short on cameras, each time I seen the buck I had nothing to document him with. Until I killed him I got the "Sure you seen a buck with double drops" look all the time. Gamer

Yes. I hit him late in the evening and by the time I waited the 45 min. or so to start tracking him it was dark. The photo's turned out alright. I'll post some soon. When can we get together so I can see some video? Gamer

Gamer i was showing my video of the buck o my buddy and the tape started acting up. I don't know what is wrong with it but it wont play and it skips and freezes up and the skreen goes blank and the video is all messed up. after that i've had 2 other tape do the same thing to me. the video is ruined but i tryed to pull as many pics off of it as i could but they didn't turn out to good. Seems i better get a new video camera...

Great buck gamer i also have a couple pictures of that buck when he was alive. For some reason i never went after him on the hunt but i did end up killing a 180 inch 4 point on the paunsaugunt this year it is posted over on muley madness website and also on bowsite.com. Again great buck. Also i have to agree with chad the reason we all hunt is to pick the bucks we want to shoot if you dont like a buck dont shoot it. Good bucks everyone.

I think these ugly "Cactus Bucks" should be harvested with "Management Tags" to weed out these disgusting genes from the herd. I don't care how "rare" they are, they are an eye-sore and need to be "weeded out" of the herds down there.
Plus, hunter's would have an added bonus of harvesting the ugly things if they so choose... SO... how about "Management Tags" for the Paunsy???

Know some herders, not on the pauns, but they claim the sheepherders catch fawns and de-nut them causing the weird freak horn growth.

I heard one of my grandfathers old time buddies tell me way back when he herded sheep on Diamond Mtn utah some of the guys would do that to deer. I didn't believe him! Why would you in the first place? I still find it hard to believe! Congrats to the hunters on there success they are both fine bucks. If someone knows why they would do that I would be interested in knowing?

The theory is that you're up watching the sheep. Things get a little boring after being on the mountain for 2 weeks straight, you are out riding your horse, a fawn jumps up, you go after it and lasso it, and then you do what you do to every other newborn male lamb you're used to dealing with, you nueter it with the hope that someday you'll be able to see this buck running around with freaky antlers and know "that was the deer I caught".

Don't ask me I'm not into that kind of stuff.

If your not into it you sure know a lot about it! Why would a sheep herder do that to a fawn? When 95% I have seen in the field are immigrants that could careless about antler size. I have talked to many in Utah & they sure are helpful after a cold soda pop. I don't see them wasting their time on nutin a deer for fun. Maybe a doe for fresh meat, but fun nuttin I call bullcrap!!!!!

I bet they did cut off there nuts in the olden days not anymore. Im thinkin it has somethin to do with there genes.

Like A Rock!

Once again the double drop tine buck is one in a lifetime. Truly a amazing buck.. double droppers on any buck is a buck that I will always dream about. The freak buck in my opinion is also a buck that is amazing too. Score doesn't matter Its a buck out of the norm who no one can ever match or compete with. I would rather have them freaky than {normal}

I think both bucks are spectacular. Although both appear to have a hormone problem or maybe just a weird gene. Who knows

To the hunter who shot the big double drop tine buck: Did you notice anything out of the ordinary about your buck? Or was he just really old?

I'm not the person who shot the double dropper, but he is my dad and the taxidermists said it had to be about 12 and 1/2 years old. My dad measured the buck and it scored 198 but he's not sure because he had a hard time figuring out where to measure most of the points from. So far it hasn't shrunk to much except the droppers. they lost most of the mass they had.

I think thats a pretty ignorant thing to say, what is this a high fence texas operation now?? management tags???LMAO

Do you have video?........velvet-footage?......
WTF? IS the deal with the cam-tards???????????
