Does anyone have any good pics of the bucks running around down there? Whats average whats big? Thinking about putting in for that tag just want to know if its worth the wait.
Or should I just wait for a southwest desert elk tag?

Whats big other places is average there. Hunt of a lifetime. I was there in Feb. Some had dropped and some hadnt. In one spot I saw several 190 deer, one that was well over 200 typical, found one side of a 220 nontypical and match set off 195 6x7. And I dont even know the mountain well. Id say its worth the wait, just sucks that its a 12 year wait. I thought it was all a dream!

I would say keep applying where your points are. You could be lucky to draw sooner. But realistic odds of drawing the Henrys with no points now. It will likly take 20 plus years, and there is a chance you will never draw. You can draw great deer tags else where. You currently can't beat Utahs LE elk. Good luck.

QUESTION.....WHAT DOES THE HENRYS TAKE FOR A NON RES. TO DRAW ?? I HAVE 10 POINTS NOW.....CAN A NON RES. DRAW WITH 14 POINTS ??? THANKS.....YD.

Its definitely this state's pride and joy. I remember when the Paunsagaunt was all the rage, but now its the Henry's. I think you should put in for it, you have at least a 12 year wait to build points...
And why would you want a stupid elk tag INSTEAD of a trophy mule deer??? LOL

YUKONDALL-
According to the odds, with 10 NR points, you have a .02% chance to draw the Henry's, even at 14 points you'll only have a 50% chance.

Sorry man, keep plugging away, you'll get it eventually!!

SLAM....THANKS. I JUST CHECKED IT TOO....50% IS NOT TO BAD...BUT 2 NON RES TAGS & 1 RANDOM TAG IS A TUFF DEAL TO HANDLE......WOW.....YD.

If you drew a Book Cliffs tag this year, you can't even put in for LE deer again next year.

Did you draw it at the convention, or an auction tag?
If it's the regular LE tag you have, your toast for LE deer for a VERY long time.

I hunted the henrys in 05 with black powder, i drew with only 7 points. it is the most amazing place i've ever been. it is well worth the wait for a tag. i killed a 5x6 32" wide scored around 210. By far the best unit in the west.

>I have bookcliffs this deer this
>year. wondering where to go
>next year was all.

WTF????

I agree with Slam.........You cant even put in for 5 years??? Please explain!!!!!!!

I drew a tag this year along with two of my friends. went down there scouting it is worth the wait. seen plenty of big bucks cannot wait until october 18th scoot

scoot, how does it look this year? i've heard there is a couple of real big ones on pennell, at least 2 pushing the 250 inch mark.

I believe it is a two year waiting period. I had a Bookcliffs tag in 2006 and I can get back into the draw in 2009. At least that is what my "draw History" section on the UDWR website says.

I know the boys with Christensen Arms, had a real big M'fer patterned down there that should score around 250ish. Lets wait and see if they were successful, should be published in a mag early next year.

Hail to the king Justr-86!! Hail to the king. Good job on getting some scum busted. I think you "Eighty-Sixed" Those or that poacher. I think I am going to Utah and drive around from Aug-Feb looking for poachers so I can get a Tag. Anyone care to join in gas money? Nice Job Man!
