My 65 year old dad sealed the deal on the Henrys Friday evening.

It was a very fun hunt and a lot of work was eventually rewarded.

We were very fortunate to find this particular buck and had not seen him prior to the evening we killed him.

Good old fashioned dumb luck.

I now know what this buck scores green. So let's here your guesses.

Whew! That is a DANDY typical! Big congratulations to you and your family. That's great your dad was able to do it with a bow too! I'd guess that buck to go around 207" gross maybe? What a monster! Great job!

Beautiful buck, congrats to your Dad! Hope I can still seal the deal when I'm 65!

This is the best series of pics posted yet this year. Awesome. congratulations to your dad on a truly beautiful buck. By the way, I'd say 213 gross.

That's the coolest thing I've seen or heard in a long time. Major congrats to your dad!

who cares what the score is.

I mean WOW just WOW to me that buck is more impressive then the 322 monster taken on the Strip. There is nothing like a huge typicall 4x4. Incredible Forks, Spread, Mass, Everything. That is one of the best looking bucks I have seen and could only hope to one day take one even close to that.

Over 200" for sure. Your dad may be looking at a new P&Y record book buck there. But I think the smile on your dads face is worth alot more than any sort of recognition he will receive. Congratulations on a once in a lifetime buck. Ok lets see some scores, it's killing me.

Congrats on a great buck. I know the Henrys can be a very hard hunt, looks like you came out on top. 195 is my guess.

Beautiful buck and congrats to your Dad. I would think he gross scores about 200" and will net close to 190" even. Tremendous accomplishment.

That is a totally awesome buck, and to be there with you dad when he had the chance to take an animal such as that is outstanding.

My guess is the buck is comming in right at the 200" mark.

What an awesome buck!!! Perfect!!!

I'd guess the buck at 199"...just can't get myself to say a deer is 200 inches, but this one probably is!

LAST EDITED ON Sep-03-08 AT 11:55AM (MST)[p]I can say it. I'm thinking 208". Great looking typical! Congrats!

Wow....what a stud.

Like everyone else said, Dad's face says it all.....priceless!!

I will throw a guess at about 192"

Great work there.

Mark

I don't care what he scores-that has to be one of the prettiest typical bucks I have seen in a long time!! It is nice to see your Dad's smile as well-tells it all.

Big time congratulations on getting it done with a bow on a monster buck!!

Great Muley! Great hunt!! 29-31 wide mid 190s Thank for the photos. I will take lucky over being good most the time.

199+ easy. 20 inches of mass, per side. 18 inch two's, 25 inch beams, 10inch threes, 12 inch fours. 2inch eye guards.

Great buck guys!

If he goes 200", that will be, three (3), yes three ARCHERY bucks over 200" off the Henry's this year that I know about!!

3 out of 8 tags = 200+"!!

I'm still not sure about a couple of guys that may still be hunting, so it very well may be even more than 3 outa 8 by the time September 12 arrives.

Incredible area.....

You guys are all pretty good at this.

This buck fooled us initially and we were crossing our fingers that he would score 190. The first several people to see his head thought it would be really close.

Our understanding is that he taped at 206 5/8 and will net near 198. Far better than we had hoped. But I agree with most of you that the score is somewhat irrelevant. He is a very beautiful buck and didn't appear to be very old at all. Makes you wonder what he could have been.

Thanks for all of you comments and I am glad you enjoyed the photos.

Dangit, missed it by 10"!

That's what i get for being to quick and just adding up one side and timesing it by two!!

Congrats again Walleye, to your whole team, you did good there!!

That is a great deer. I really like his antler shape. Congrats to your Dad and your getting to do it with him. That is what it is all about.

It is interesting that the average deer shot on the Henrys is only 4 and a half. The current objective is 5 years old and they rarely meet it because guys are shooting 200 inch 4 year olds. hahaha

LAST EDITED ON Sep-03-08 AT 04:25PM (MST)[p]What an amazing buck. Typical deer don't get much better than that. congrats to your dad!

the picture of of your dads smile is a trophy in it self. He got a dandy of a buck man with a bow no less, YOUR DADS A STUD.

You probably already know this but your dads buck will place in the top 5 biggest P&Y bucks ever taken with a bow in Utah. Not that score matters. He's as pretty a typical as you'll find anywhere.

Mike

I added it up to where I think he's a solid 209" gross buck. My calculations leave him with about 10" of deductions puting him at 199" net... That is a beautiful buck!!! A very rare find indeed...
how many archery tags do they draw on the Henry's anyway?

What an absolute Beast! Congratulations on a beautiful buck. I love that it was your dad that got him too. I hope my dad can arrow a buck this year as he has never killed one with his bow yet. Thanks for posting that up for our viewing pleasure and getting me even more excited. Great job!!!

LAST EDITED ON Sep-03-08 AT 07:44PM (MST)[p]Score one for the older (mature:)) hunters! There is still hope for me and Kilowatt! Congratulations!

That's so awesome, I hope I'm still wanting to chase bucks around with my bow when I'm 65. Congrats!

I nailed the score on gross and net by less than 1"

Walley,

Hell of a buck, I was that guy that stoped and talked with you guys as you were loading that buck on your quads. Thats a great deer as I told you up on the mountain and much congratulations to your dad and all of your family. I thought I might have been a bit conservative on the score. We have some pretty good video of that buck from the summer, he is a true hass of a muley.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-04-08 AT 12:02PM (MST)[p]That buck gets my vote for the MM big buck contest! Ain't never gonna find a prettier typical! Congrats!

Very nice buck and way symmetrical!

I am going to say he will Net score around 198.

Congrats to your Dad and for you to be able to enjoy it with him.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-05-08 AT 10:17PM (MST)[p]A BIG CONGRATS TO YOUR DAD, what a nice Buck. Like Eelgrass said, we have our work cut out for us now. LOL Gee, only a year older than your dad so I better draw a good tag next year since I drew Zilch this year.

Congrats to the "youngster hunter".

Brian
