Region G; Early or Late

Question for those who hunt G in Wyoming. Do you prefer to hunt early (i.e. opening week) or late and hope for snow? Which is better?

Same year, same place, two groups of friends hunted the high country on pack in trips. The guys who went later found much fewer hunters and the deer were more at ease , feeding, and spending more time where you could glass em up, out in the open. The bucks taken averaged larger as well. This opinion is from several seasons observation.

opening weekend is a zoo.

If I had a buck picked out and was sitting on him I would hunt the opener.

Otherwise I would wait a couple weeks. The difference in hunter numbers is staggering.
