So here's the scenario. I work a 4/10 schedule giving me Friday off, I can take 2 days leave during the hunt. If I take Wed and Thurs off I can hunt 5 days but, they are at the back of the hunt, if I take Mon and Tues off I only get 4 but, they are at the front off the hunt. Just wondering what the masses would do. Thanks for your input.

it's not what i would do it's what i would have done and that is taken of alot more time off for a great hunt like that.but sometimes work does not allow that sometimes especially if it is a new job. what are your hunt dates rifle or muzzy you hunting deer or elk i would take the extra day imo

sorry , Rifle deer, I wish I could take the whole hunt but it is a new job and 2 days is pushing it.

Take the 5 days later in the hunt. A large majority of the "masses" will be headed home by then.

By the way,
I live in UT.
There are a lot of UTARDS that live here.
I have also seen quite a few WYOMORONS, NEVADUHNS, COLORADORKS, ID-IOTS and AIRHEADZONANS in my travels.

I will be down there all week. got lucky and wrote my days off last december. The masses should be gone by sunday. There will always be a couple hogs taken opening day, Sunday they get smart and by wednesday they start back out again. Its just like opening day all over again. PM me if you want to hunt together.

Take the front end then call in sick for a couple of days, have your grandma convienently die the rest of the time and enjoy your hunt!

Definitely the last part of the hunt. Crowds will have thinned out and bucks will have calmed down some and might even start thinking about does. If I had to choose between the first 4 and last 5 days I would absolutely choose the last 5.

Hunt the last five days of the hunt. Utahs UEA weekend is the opening weekend of the rifle hunt and everyone out there will be having a family reunion. In 2005 when I had a tag it was the same situation with UEA. You would see 5 people on 4 wheelers together and 1 person would have a gun. Most killed the first mature buck they saw and left. By Wednesday there were alot fewer people and by Friday it seemed we had the whole place to ourselves.

Yep, Tues-Thurs are the best. Weekend warriors have gone home, but they will return on Friday again. Granted, not as many come back, but you will see some more pressure on the 2nd weekend. In 05 on Sunday afternoon we were on our way back to camp on Wolf Den road. I kid you not, there were 5 groups all gutting deer within 1000 yards of each other. And crazy enough, there were still several bucks feeding in between their dead buddies. Looked like everyone wanted to fill their tags and get back to work on Monday. Was great to see all the people getting ready to head out. Ill be heading out there on Sunday afternoon myself. Im sure Ill pass the parade coming the other direction.

Your in for a great hunt & I hope the best for you! I would take the middle of the week off as many people have stated. The crowds are down & the deer start moving more. Hope for early wet cold weather & the migration to begin. Not to say there are not bucks that live there year round, but when the migration starts you can see an amazing amount of deer & bucks. I have been out there for a couple hunts this year & can give you some information about what I have seen pm me. My family, like others on here have come to call the bookcliffs home a place that just brings back memories & times that exemplify outdoors,.... family, friends, & the beauty of them all together.

Looks like it will be Wednesday to Sunday. Hopefully a mid-week storm will be kind enough to visit. thanks for the replies.
