Can anyone lead me to the knife that uses disposeable scalpel/razor blades? I'm sick of sharpening and I want to see one.

Cabelas? Sportsmens?

Thanks again in advance.

The Havalon razors DO NOT work on elk--they work well on deer and antelope (thin skinned animals). I think just your regular utility razor knives work well at least what i have tried.

That's a good point Todd.....I own both (Havalon and Tigersharp) and rely more on the Tiger Sharp, as the blade is thick and tough, scalpel sharp, and light weight.

With the Tigersharp can you be extra blades and how much are they? They just talked about being able to sharpen the blades but nothing about buying extra blades.

Yes, you can order the extra blades. They are about $12.00 for a pack of two.

I can attest to the fact that you can use the havalon piranta on elk. For skinning/caping/gutting it works magic. Yes the blades bend, but they are supposed to. They are razor sharp and you can buy a dozen for $5.00. You can even get blades that are rounded at the end that are better for skinning/caping.

I have been using havalon for about ten years and they are a must have in the pack. But you have to still have a good solid knife for harder work like neck on elk, extra.

The Havalon is a must have. I used it with a few blades and completely took care of an Alaska/Yukon moose in the Yukon last year with no problem.

I have a Havalon, great knife, several blade options. I like to use it for skinning / caping out a critter. I have used it with great results so far on Antelope, Elk & Deer. I still prefer to use a heavy hunting knife to gut / quarter with.

FWIW, Over the w-end I was messing around with this knife sharpner I bought the other day and tried it on a used blade in the Havalon and it seemed to improve it BUT I have yet to give the resharpened blade a go on a fresh critter...
