I have always been intrigued by the successful hunters and stories on this forum. I had the fortune and opportunity to harvest this great bull this year.
I hunted him for 6 straight days with close encounters, but no arrows flew. On the 7th night it all came together and I was able to put an arrow in him at 38 yds.
I was able to share this great moment with my greatest friend, my dad!
This incredible animal officially netted 385 3/8.

Yes, there are actually think pockets of trees in the area I shot him.
There where others hunters trying to harvest this bull. This bull got blown out the area a couple different times. I just stayed persistent and knew the elk would calm down .
Got within 100 yds twice, but no dice!! Gotta love the wind with a stick-flipper in your hand.
Just watching this bull with his cows for a week was an amazing experience in its self. Having it all come together was kinda cool to!!
 
I have been against social media all my life. I believed it was a breeding ground for rumors, mis-conception, and way to hunt without putting glass or boots on the ground.
The fact of the matter is the true hunter gains glory from incremental wins along the way.
I am impressed with this forum. No ?where you get him?? Just guys appreciate the animal and the circumstances.

It's about honoring the animal and the experience... especially since big game across the west has become a dwindling resource.

I congratulated you on your bull and gave you the benefit of many doubts, in an earlier post. I just can't stomach your last reply.

I agree social media can unfortunate have rumors and mis-conception. You are saying work for your animals, glassing and put boots on the ground.

A couple years ago two of your friends and co-workers were prosecuted for poaching the famous Hyde Park buck.

It was shot in the middle of the night Wednesday after the hunt closed Sunday. They shot it with a suppressed .22. The picture surfaced on Monster Muley's of the poached buck, still needing to be caped out.

There was frost on the hay field from their tire tracks, Wednesday 3 days after the hunt. The only day that week when there was frost.

A forensic veterinary pathologist looked at the famous picture of the poached buck, that you said YOU personally took Sunday the last day of the hunt around 12 noon, YOU claiming it was just a couple hours old. When the blood of the hanging buck was brownish red in color. The forensic pathologist professional opinion was the blood was days old, not hours old.

at least 10 sportsmen including two police officers saw the buck after the hunt. YOU chose to lie and cover up for your friends who chose to poach this famous buck. "They didn't put their boot on the ground." They didn't honor the animal and neither did you.

Maybe you legally killed this bull? It looks like pretty open ground to me for a 38 yard shot. If we were to look at google earth, could we find the thick trees near the bull?
Was there others besides your Dad there during the kill? Wondering why you waited so long to post a picture on Monster Muley's? Did you take pictures with you I phone for a location like was claimed on the Hyde Park buck? Did you buy another tag and wound another elk after this bull? Of course you don't need to answer the questions.

If you come on here and talk about honoring the animal, with the past history, yes many may question what really happened. You made those choices.

Again congrats on a great bull. I hope everything was on the up and up.
 
Huntin 50, I have had multiple experiences with butts and his dads hunting techniques Ive hunted the same area for years and have watched them threw my scope as they approach the same heard that I'm after with butts sitting on the 4 wheeler in the back of truck trying to get within distance to shoot from the truck. We?ve witnessed him and his dad 3 different times trying to kill elk out of there truck. With a bow!!! I was after butts bull for the first 5 days and never saw a person in the area then had to go back to work.
 
I heard he was using explosive broad heads too... come on!

I see I'm not welcome here and that's cool. As far as the whole Hyde Park buck thing, my name was cleared by the only entity that matters.

The bull I harvested this year was takin 100% fair chase, right weapon , right area and the right tag. I meant every word I have said in my posts and I'm Damn proud of this accomplishment. Thought it would be cool to share a great hunting moment with fellow sportsmen. Boy was I wrong!!!

Ol ramrod... you think if ya seen a 300 pound white guy with a bow in his hand, sitting on a wheeler in the back of a pickup chasing elk around you might call the authorities, cause that seems like some shady stuff. Nevertheless on 3 different occasions! Did the guy have war paint on!!Nope,never happened and you know it.

Wonder if your the clown that screwed with my trail-cams.. some whacked out s**t.

There are all kinds on the internet and you can't let the thoughts and opinions of a few dictate your perception of all. Unless you have time to burn, back and forth bickering is a waste of time.

As most in the thread have voiced, fantastic bull. That there is a monster. Good for you on getting it done.

I try to be fair and helpful to others. I have a long history of trying to help others on this site.

My post number 18 congratulated on a big bull.

Even though I know about some of Butts history of helping his friends get away with poaching one of the largest bucks poached in Utah. It was on this website that Butt's said, "he" took the picture of the Poached buck that got leaked. It was this website "he" said the buck was chasing does out of town.

I have read the case file. I know quite a bit about the case. After months he finally admitted to a friend some truths. The Judge knows the truth. Butt's name was not cleared, they DWR just didn't prosecute him for telling lies and helping with the cover up. They prosecuted the two in the field.

When Butt's talked in post number 22 about being a true hunter, honoring the animal and experience, is far different than what he was involved with just a couple years ago. Fact.

I have NO idea who the poster is that said Butt's was seen hunting in the back of the truck on three different occasions. Maybe he didn't burn as much shoe leather as he wanted us to believe?

This isn't my website. Butt's is welcome as far as I'm concerned. I just have a problem believing the things Butt's say, because of his recent history, that is well documented, by witness testimony, physical evidence, pictures, and science.

The poached bucks hair, DNA, was found, between the tire tracks in the hay field, where they loaded the buck whole and ungutted. Not chasing does, where Butt's said the hunters were up on the foothills. There is no reason for me to bring out more facts. The past is the past. Learn from mistakes and move on with life.

Butt's talking about honor, putting boots on the ground, and being a true hunter was too much for me to swallow. I had to reply again.

Maybe everything was legal. The picture and contradictory statements warrants some answers. I doubt we will get them.

I think I have said enough.

Why do I know that you two have dogs that ride around with you while your hunting?Why do I know where you camp? Why do I know exactly where your bull took it's finally breath? Come on man I've witnessed exactly how you hunt and me and my buddies are tired of getting screwed by you. We actually put boot and glass time in and do everything legit. It gets old when your closing the distance on foot and you've been on your stalk for several hours and a pickup truck pulls out into the herd a blows them out of the country. You can call me a liar all you want but I have multiple witnesses. Oh and I would never mess with somebody?s personal property.

Amen mulecreek.. NOKILL it's good you pay attention to your competition. Word of wisdom....pay more attention to the game your pursuing. Amen towelie, It was very suspicious where we found the gut pile. Very very sparse cover within a mile of it. Wish we would have called it in, but we figured it was to late. Big mistake we made.

Some guy kills a big elk and sit back and watch the hate boil over.

It's sad how people claim all kinds of stuff they don't know and use it to tie their internet rope.

The internet is like the wild west for kids.

Like my brother always said, "If you want to get kicked out of hunting camp, Kill a giant buck."

Hate and envy are amazing emotions.

You have a great selective memory. Pretty much everything I said about the Hyde Park buck scenario was correct. You might want to go back and read.

Yall are lynching someone with no other proof but a photo that to yall doesn't show enough trees in the pic and because he knew someone who was convicted in a different poaching case.

He got a great bull and you hate him. Sounds logical.

I'm just wondering which one of you are going to report him to the authorities first.

I don't care a whole lot for the he said she said garbage either. Many who are ?condemning? on here are calling the kettle black in ways. Maybe Butts has had some bad publicity in the past, maybe he was or wasn?t a stand up stake president style figure, I dunno. That's easy to let fingers make judgment it seems. Great bull, congrats Butts. If you did it the right way, like I believe you likely did then it's easy to shrug the garbage off. Let em suck it.


Sit tall in the saddle, hold your head up high, keep your eyes fixed to where the trail meets the sky...
