Here are some pics of our trip to Region D in Wyoming this year. We saw a lot of goats and a lot of deer. The weather was a little warm but the deer were still moving.
Here's a pic of my 13 inch goat.

Here's a pic of my deer. He measured 22 wide x 15 tall....barely missed out on making the book!! HaHa

Here's my Dads buck...shot less than 100 yards from where I put mine down one day later...

My Dad also shot a 15 1/2 inch goat but I didn't have my camera with me. I'll have to post them when he sends me his pics. We had a great hunt and it makes it so much sweeter that I have another hunting memory with my Dad. We take for granted that our hunting partners will be around forever...but that is not the case. During the middle of this trip, my Dads back started acting up. It was really a bummer. He didn't complain...but I knew it was bugging him. My Dad taught me how to hunt and I'm realistic when I say we'll probably only have 10-15 more years to hunt together. He's 64 now and can't go forever. Hell, I've slowed down a bit and I'm only 37!! Enjoy your hunting partners and don't take it for granted that you'll always hunt with them next year.

Steve,
Congrats to you and your dad on the great hunt together and of course filling the tags. Very nice Lopes and Bucks too, thanks for posting.
Hopefully, next year I can draw and would love to do a Lope and Buck hunt at the same time.

That is a great story. Congrats on your succes and being able to hunt with your dad. I would love to hunt goats and bucks at the same time.

Awesome Steve! Great job. I just got back from that area with my old man too. I'll post the story in the pronghorn forum.

Its great to see you guys keeping it going. Great lookin animals. I too am 37 and Dad is 67. We hope to hunt a few more years.

We have not been to Wyo yet, but have 3 points for deer and lope. We have been lllokin at the southwest corner of the state-red desert area. Was your hunt on public or private?

If your willing, I would appreciate any other info about the hunt via PM.

Looks like good huntin'.

Excellent photos and composition BTW . . .

I was just reading my Huntin' Fool in regards to how to take good photos. You did everything right. Of couse you had good WX and lighting too.

I'm guessing you took 20-40 pics to get 4 that good. Am I about right?

Mark- This hunt was on private. It's a really wierd deal out there how they work the land management. I know they have walk in areas but you need to call Game and Fish about that. The ranch we hunt on is like a family ranch. He does not run a hunting business- he's a cattle rancher.

MuskegMan- Thanks for the compliments on the photos. We really put some effort into taking better pictures. Normally we just take em and don't worry about the set up, blood, presentation, etc. but they look a whole lot better when a little time is taken to do it right. We honestly didn't take but 5 or 6 pics of each animal we shot. Luck I guess!! Thanks for the responses guys.

Thanks for the info.

I'd be proud to shoot a buck like yours and Dad's.

I hear a lot of "noise" on the site that there either are or are not any good deer left in WYO. I tend to think theres enough good ones left, ya just have to earn em....

Just trying to learn what to expect- I want to make the best of it when I go, but also have realistic expectations. I live about 1000 miles west of WYO, so I don't get to scout before I go.....will just "wing-it"

Mark- Wherever youre planning on hunting, talk to as many people as you possibly can. It has taken us several years hunting on this ranch to really figure out what kind of deer are on it. Although, a lot of it depends on the weather and feed, etc. from year to year. Last year I was not able to go out there but my Dad did. There was a 28 inch buck taken as well as a couple of 25 inch bucks taken. My Dad shot a 23 inch 3x3. The biggest buck we saw this trip was one a little bigger than the one I shot. I had him within 200 yards but could not get on him comfortably to take a shot. He spooked and I never got an ethical shot opportunity. Do plenty of homework and talk to people...most of the info you get will be accurate. Good luck!

Hey Steve, Wow, looks like you guys did real well. I especially like the boxy look on your muley and the really nice pic's in general. Great trip!

Congrats on a great hunt with some great harvests. Also, it's even better to share it with the old man and I'm sure you guys had a great time in the field together. Good to see and thanks for sharing.
