Saturday morning we saw alot of deer but nothing close to put my tag on opening day. I watched a 23 inch 4 point that was pretty willow horned die at about 7:15 am. I was with my grandpa so I couldnt do much other than ride around for the first day and a half. Sunday night my dad came down and we went for a walk and found a couple

the one on the left was probably 25 wide but willow horned. The one on the right had ok mass but... kinda ugly frame... 2nd day..
oh ya forgot to mention I had a cold that was trying to kill me opening weekend until about monday afternoon before I could actually breathe. Monday my son and wife were going stir crazy at the camper so they came with me and its hard to hunt with a one year old.

But he was having the time of his life looking at deer, Absolutely loved every minute of it.
Tuesday night about 11:00 I got the flu and was up throwing up atleast 3 times an hour all night and until about 10 wednesday morning. tuesday didnt produce much of anything other than bucks like this one.

wednesday morning my dad showed up and told me you can be sick in the trailer of you can be sick looking for deer. So I got up and was trying to get my stuff together and was standing behind my truck throwing up and he walked around the truck and asked what I was doing.... ya... I told him I was looking for arrowheads.... Kinda funny anyways. We found some new jeep trails and saw a bunch of does and little bucks but nothing to get excited over. We did see a 2 point that was 20 inches wide and every bit of 30 tall with heavy heavy horns. I planned on looking for him on closing sunday if I still had not found the buck I was looking for. My brother has never been to the books until late thursday night and we woke up friday morning and was showing him around and I had to get out of the truck I had enough riding around so I had him drop my dad and I off and head around to pick us up for a short push.. about 30 minutes in I heard some shale breaking behind me and turned around to see a deer sneaking away from me. I put my bino's on him and saw he had great forks, good eye guards and had the frame I was looking for and when I put my gun up he must have known what was going on he started on the dead run away from me. Quartering away I let my first shot fly at about 170 yards... THUMP he spun a full circle and stopped again broadside so I let another on go and rolled him. On the ground is the biggest buck I have ever shot, I knew it already. So I jumped up and down yelling and trying to get my dads attention and turn around and my buck isnt there anymore........ My heart sank........ I got my dad headed to where I had knocked him down and all he had done was get up and walk about 10 feet behind a cedar to where I couldnt see him. To most on here he might not be a trophy but he is to me. He comes with alot of great memories with my 1 year old son, My wife, My dad, My Grandpa, My brother, And I cant forget my mom for bringing me the flu because I know she cares about me. In my mind he is the biggest best buck taken in 08. (but I'm sure you feel the same way about yours.) I couldnt have asked for any better hunt I had a great time and would like to thank everyone involved.
Thanks
