Henry's come through again..Man it seems to be the spot this year, well it seems to be the spot every year but there are some studs comin off there.. Seems one a week anymore...Stud Buck

Local sportsman Del R. Brady waited six years for a deer permit in Unit 003 of the Henry Mountains. Little did he realize the wait would result in an opportunity to harvest what may become the Utah State record typical Mule Deer.

Using Kalan Lemon and Wayne Brown of Mossback Guides and Outfitters, Brady found what was called ?The Buck.? The huge animal, so named, had been seen several times during the fall muzzle-loader hunt but eluded his pursuers each time.

The buck was easily identified by his huge, massive 29-inch spread with a small point (kicker) on the right beam. Brady and his guides spotted the buck early the morning of the first day. Mostly nocturnal, the buck apparently was confused by the full moon and was late in leaving his nightly harvest of alfalfa for his daylight secret hiding place.

When asked what he thought when the buck was first sighted, Brady said: ?I knew he was a magnificent animal, but I had no idea how big he really was. Had I known, I would have probably missed him again, since I missed the first shot.?

The ?green? score is 239 2/8 (antlers cannot be officially measured for 60 days to ensure appropriate drying). The four-point main frame score is 229 3/8. It is estimated, after deductions, that the net score may be 211-213. The present Utah state record is 212 1/8.

he buck can be scored both typical and atypical and make the record book. Brady will enter in both categories. However, Brady will emphasize the typical category, to try to beat or match the present state typical record.

An avid hunter, Brady specializes in sheep and holds other records in Alaska. He has also harvested several large bears, including the Alaska Brown and the Alaskan Grizzly Bear.
 
i work for kalans dad and we talked to kalan the day after they killed it saying it was a pig! then they killed ron mika that 3 point frame buck 9x10 non-typical that went 224 or something then another typical that was 205!
 
Would like to see the numbers on that scoresheet. Just doesn't look like a World Class Frame too me. Mass isn't exceptional. G1's are weak. Great Buck no doubt, don't get me wrong, but a 229 inch frame? That's bigger than the Burris Buck. There are very very few bucks ever harvested with a frame in that catogory. I've seen some of them and this buck just doesn't look like the same type of buck. Maybe I'm missin something? What are the numbers?

He drew the Henry's after ONLY six years!!! Again proves my point if you have endless CASH you can accomplish anything.
 
I agree with BCBOY. A truly amazing buck but a 229 frame? Pictures are deceiveing but i just don't see it.

Excited hunters with a Smoker buck, quick and dirty field measurements, could make for some addition errors???
 
freaking ginormous! easy 205 inch frame even without those rediculous g4s. those g4s put him easy 215-230

See this just seems to me a guy that doesn't really know much about the B&C scoring system. Since when can you enter a buck in both typical and nontypical categories?
 
IF THE BUCK MAKES THE MINIMUM B&C SCORE BOTH TYPICAL & NON-TYPICAL I DON'T SEE WHY HE COULDN'T BE ENTERED IN BOTH???

B & C says that a buck can be entered into either the typical or the non-typical catagories, but not both. The owner has to choose which catagory he wants his entry in.
 
I'm with BC. I just cant see 239 on that buck I'm hard pressed to get over 218 gross and that is rounding up on every measurment.Maybe there are some points we can't see. Still, it's one heck of a deer.

After talking to kalan it is true! the 2's 3's 4's and the main beems are outragoues! all you people do is dis on other hunters because your jealous!
 
If you look at the burris buck the mass is not overly impressive. Long tines is what makes records

Haha he is all that boys! with 23 6/8 G2, 17 G4, 29 inch beams and 18 inches a mass a side it adds up fast!!
The buck has 10 inches of extras. 239 gross 229 on the frame.
the pictures do not do the deer justice.
See him at the expo in SLC at the moosback both this winter!!!

now the rumor mill huh? I am not sure what field this buck was on, but if its the one i think, the fee isnt all that out of reach, besides that, it sounds like he came to the public land daily.
 
Open public ground. The guy who killed the buck is about as regular joe as you can get. Drew the tag, knew what he had and wanted to increase his chance at a giant. He got what he deserved. Smile.....

BCBoy, I usualy respect your comments but I think your wrong on this one, will you at least admit it if you are... That buck has a unbeliveable frame, and the sorce is credable, I've never seen the mossback crew inflate the score of an animal, not by 20"s like you say anyways.

You must be missing something here. Its Mossback, They'll do anything for numbers. Bcboy and Neverstop, I'm going to have to agree, Great buck, for an alfalfa diet. Just not seein the numbers add up.

Ha, you girls fight it out. The buck will have an official score soon and that score almost always goes up and inch or so from the measurements Doyle gives an animal. I'm headin to the Henrys for the week. There are still people with deer tags! Later...

People on this site continue to amaze me; no wonder there are so many who do not want to post pic's.

For those who say it was on private ground, why don't you buy a BLM map and see how little private land there is on the Henry's.

A guide posts the measurements and there are still people arguing from one pic??? Incredible!!

All I was askin for was the measurements. Glad you gave some. Really you boys should fire whoever took that pic. There is one thing about pics not doing a buck justice and then there is a buck looking like it's lost 20+ inches. That pic makes that buck look like an average 200 inch typical mainfame. Not that 200 inch mainframes are average, but when compared to a 229 inch mainframe, yup they are average. A buck that size should give a diehard muley nut instant wood. It should make your jaw drop to the floor. That pic fails to do that. Fire the photographer.

As for your toothbrush comment, I've seen that from you before. I take it I ain't pretty enough to be a whore? Maybe if I grew my hair out? :) :)
