My 12 year old son got his 1st buck on friday after hunting very hard for 6 days straight and passing on 2 small forked horns he finally connected on one. I am very proud of him and his 9 year old brother who hiked hard everyday and never complained of the cold or the walking.
I would like to send a huge thanks to all the guys who helped us get familiar with the area and also to Steve from utah for the help with the end of a long drag out.

Nice job to all...looks like you are raising your boys the right way.IMO...they will remember that day for the rest of their lives and are probably hooked for life.

Those smiles are what it is all about. Well done!

LAST EDITED ON Nov-11-08 AT 12:16PM (MST)[p] Thanks guys,We were in colorado. They were getting pretty flusterated All we were seeing was about 3 does per day,and he had sliped and knocked his scope on a wet log. then we changed area on the second to last day and saw about 30 doe and 1 small forkie. The last day he took my gun which I had brought as a back up and we walked farther up a draw we had seen the forkie in about a mile and a half up this buck came into the trees across the draw at about 150 yards. His 1st shot was low so I told him to hold right below the top of his shoulder. 2nd shot broke the bucks back. I said you got him, his little brother went crazy, jumpimg up and down, patting and hugging his older brother on the back. I never seen them act like they were that close before, it was cool. The buck was still trying to go down hill on his front legs so he took 1 more shot right through the right lower shoulder. It was a day I will sure remember for the rest of my life also.

Awesome!
Congrats to the hunter....and way to go Dad!
