Found Wasatch Front Archery Buck?

I was out last saturday with a good friend of mine hunting the extended archery hunt above Salt Lake City. He was able to hit a nice buck, but unfortunately the hit was too far back and high. A long story short is that we looked for the deer all day and my friend has been looking for the deer ever since. Today he was out and found what he believes to be the deer he hit, but unfortuately someone found the deer before he did and cut the antlers off. My Friend has felt sick about the whole deal ever since Saturday.

The buck was a four point on his right side, with a good back fork and a smaller front fork, his left side was kind of a different looking three point with a small cheater. He was probably between 22 and 24 inches wide and had good mass.

If anybody knows anything about this deer you would make my friends year. Like I mentioned before my buddy feels terrible about making a bad shot and not being able to find the buck right away. He is willing to pay someone for the antlers. If you need a better description of the deer or where the carcass was found please email me and we can give you more specifics.

Thanks for your help.

Well seeing as it was illegal for the guys to cut off the antlers in the first place, its doubtful you will find them.

I guess that is technically true unless they contacted the fish and game or just stashed the horns in the bushes pending approcal. That being said I can assure anyone with info on this that we aren't looking to cause any problems.

I talked with the guy last night that shot the buck; he's still kicking himself for not being able to find his buck in time to salvage the meat from the coyotes, and the antlers from another hunter.

He is still optimistic that whoever cut off the antlers may have some integrity and contact him. By the way - he did say that he is not trying to stir up any trouble, and that any return would be "no-questions-asked."

If anyone has any information - p.m. me.

I found 2 dead elk last year and reported them to the FG.
The FG officer came and cut off the head.
So maybe the FG got it???

Man thats to bad for the hunter! I sure hope he can get the antlers from who ever found it.

Still haven't had any concrete leads. Thanks to everyone who took this under consideration. It was a long shot but we just wanted to cover all our bases in the search.

Maybe the F&G has it, or maybe some other extended archery hunter just decided to tag it.

I hope it was one of those two options and not just some idiot cutting off the horns. There sure were a lot of extended archery hunters roaming the hills along the wasatch this year - which is a good thing!
