Deer Mounts

Hey Guys, I have a question for ya. I have some mounts from my dad that are getting old and the cape is starting to look old. The fur isn't falling out or anything but does anyone have any suggestions on what to do with mounts to keep the cape looking good?

LAST EDITED ON Dec-07-08 AT 01:50PM (MST)[p]I washed a cougar mount with pert plus once. Just scrubed it down like a dog. trying to avoid getting water in the ears, and face.

Don?t know if it will work with your deer or not. I than took a leaf blower to it after words, followed up with a hair dryer and it looked better than new.

Archery is a year round commitment!!

Being next to a window where direct sun light hits it, will make a mount look old really fast. If this is not the case, just whip the mount down with a damp rag. I will also take a small wire brush(looks like tooth brush) and comb the mount after cleaning. Go with the hair not againt it. You can also use a Q-tip to clean around the eyes and in the nose area.

If the cape is to bad, just shoot another buck and use its cape for the antlers already mounted.

this is a great question.......I've got some deer that could use a good cleaning. seems like after awhile just dusting does'nt cut it. Heard somewhwre to spray them with windex....
