I have to say 2008 has been a great year for my girlfriend and I! We put alot of meat in the freezer and had a great time together. All of our hunts took place within 65 miles of home here in AZ. I have to say she took the cake with her tremendous buck though. I just got her a new bow for her birthday and we are going to chase javelina in January. She's really excited to try bowhunting. I thought I would share the pics with you all.

Happy hunting,
Dan

I think I can do all that within 65 miles of my place
in AZ but not that nice of stuff!
(and i would have to get drawn!!LOL!!)
Great post!

Jeff

Isn't that the truth Jeff! The pronghorn tag was probably the hardest to draw. The cow and deer tag she drew were pretty easy draw odds but the buck she killed was probably once in a lifetime south of the Colorado river. That was only her second buck (she killed a spike before we met). It scored 181 gross. She impressed me by passing on a spike and 3 forked horns during the hunt. She set her standard at a 3 point or better. I may have created a monster!!!!

Pete, if you've hunted northwest AZ we may have met before. Is there a post with your picture in it? Thanks for the responses. It's too bad years like this don't happen more often. I'm lucky to draw and fill one good tag in a year. We are grateful to have such a variety of meat to choose from in the freezer. I was surprised how good the lion was.

Nice year man. Did you call your lion in? Looks like some kind of decoy by your bipods...........

Great pictures man! Sounds like your lil dove's got the fever.. You've started a great trend, not only does she hunt.. She shoots the biggest deer.

Congrats on some super success. And better luck next year on the beating the girlfriend's success... It's always tough to one up, and it's always best not to do so... LOL!

Breederbuck, I did call that lion in but I was just out calling coyotes. It showed up after 17 minutes of rabbit distress sounds. That fury thing in the picture is my FoxPro with some rabbit hide drapped over it - I got tired of looking at a black box sitting out there:)

what did you lope score? it is a monster and with a bow!!
You got your deer on opening day. Are you bowhunting again jan. 1? Some of that country looks like some of the country around Safford where I live.

Jeff,
My pronghorn is still at the taxi but I rough scored him at 77. He broke off about 1.5" of horn tip a few days before season. One of my friends got pic's of him in July standing under the powerline. I'm definately going back out for deer the first, there were too many great bucks taken in the general season not to!

Congrats on a super year. I'd suggest you rescore that speed goat. He looks like a Booner to me, broken tip or not. He's a big-timer.

Reaper, these were all taken out of Mohave county with the exception of my girlfriends buck. I was a few miles into Yavapai county.

Awesome year Dan. Its great that your wife will hunt with you. To draw that many tags in itself is a great feat but your success has to come from souting and patience.
