I don't know about Grunts but you can get them to come into rattling antlers Ryan hatch has this on film in one of his first videos I have also had a few experiences with smaller bucks, I have also had deer come in while calling coyotes too. I think alot of it is just that curiosity gets the best of them.

I've called blacktail deer in with both doe bleats and fawn in distress calls. I'd imagine if the bucks are rutting, they'll go where the does go. Normally only does have come to these calls.
