Hey Manny! i remember the first time i ever saw that pic on the right. At the time, he was the buzz among our generation of not yet real serious trophy hunters. Back then, I thought Darner was the greatest muley hunter ever lived. What a shame that he built his whole life and reputation around a foundation of lies.
it was my 8th grade teacher that got me hooked on deer hunting but it was Darner who got me chasing mule deer, with that 1981 jim zumbo story, heck I even spoke to the guy on the phone once.
Though, I never considered Darner a hero - when I first saw the pic on the right - I wondered - why would someone pose with a pic of a mounted deer out in the snow with his hunter orange on? It didn't make sense to me when I was 12 - doesn't now. I guess he wanted everyone to think he had just killed it or something.
I don't know about u... but I think this buck is still in the hills... rumors have it, that french scientists cloned him years and years before he was taken. So now the truth is out... I don't know about u.. but I wouldn't be eating any of it. Only french thing i like are "French fries" and "French maids"
