Question for you guys. I am going into the draw in UT this year with 6 points. I'm an archery hunter and plan on putting in for an archery hunt. I'm torn between the Bookcliffs and the Vernon. What are your thoughts? I am hoping to hear from someone who hunted one of these units last year. Thanks in advance.

You will see a lot more deer on the books then you will on vernon. Vernon was awesome for the first few years after it re opened but since then it has been shot out for the most part. There are still some bucks there and even a few really big bucks but its no where near what it was.

Either unit you have your work cut out for you if you want a giant buck IMO.

To be really successful on vernon would take a lot more scouting then on the bookcliffs.

If you don't have tons of time to scout and you are looking for a fun hunt with lots of deer and a fair amount of decent bucks i would suggest the bookcliffs

Havnt hunted either unit but spend a lot of time viewing deer in both these units, the vernon is a good unit with lots of bucks but very few nice bucks like he said its been shot out your average nice deer on the vernon is probably a 130 -150 class deer, the books on the other hand has a lot of bucks and a good number of decent bucks in the 170 range, but theres even a better unit than those with a lot of bucks and some great bucks with your points you would almost certainly draw if youd like to know where let me know !!! Good luck!

I know Vernon and I would do BC with a bow even though I have not been there. Vernon can be tough with cedar, sage, and rocks. I like Vernon for rifle hunting.

Book cliffs is a much better chance of scoring with a bow . There are many more deer and the terrain is much more conducive for the archers. It is tough to set a tree stand in the high sage brush on the Vernon. There are some smokers shot off of both units every year, but if you don't have all the time in the world to scout draw the books it will be a great hunt.
A guy from work and three of his family members all killed decent bucks in the Books last year. And he really doesn't hunt that much. They only went out one weekend to scout.
