I'm considering re-locating to Astoria Oregon and was wondering how the deer/elk populations are in that area. Does it really rain that much?

The Roosevelt elk population is very good. Clatsop County has produced the majority of record book bulls from Oregon. The blacktail numbers aren't real good from what I've heard, but there's some nice bucks to be had.

YES, it does rain alot in Astoria. But most folks just take it in stride. The summer and autumn are real pleasent though.

Where would you be moving from? treekiller

Thanks for the response. I'd be moving from north east WA. "treekiller", thats a good one. You must be a cutter. I work on the other end of things as a forester.

If you're coming from N.E.WA., then you'll find alot more elk to play with, but quite abit fewer deer. The only whitetails are the little Columbian Whitetails up the river aways. They're still protected.

Yes, I am a cutter. Got my handle from a hugger shoving a video camera in my face and asking me how I liked being an "environmental criminal", as I was facing up a tree. The boss started calling me "treekiller", and I kind of liked it. LOL

There's plenty of fishing in the Astoria area. Salmon, steelhead, sturgeon, and probably panfish in the Columbia sloughs.

Good luck, treekiller
