Grey's river

You can expect a very physical and mentally demanding hunt. Awesome country though and still a chance at a good buck if you work at it.

I talked to 3 outfitters at the end of the 2008 season. They told me the quality of animals was down from 2007. 2007 the were seeing there fair share of 190 class animals and some 220 to 230's were taken. 2008 they seen some 180 class and a couple that were bigger. So 2008 was a down year but there saying they have high hopes for 2009!

But then again they want you to hunt with them.

I have big hopes for 2009 also. We should draw this year. I've already started cutting back on the grub in preparation. I want to be in better shape than I was in 2007. Big, steep, nasty, beautiful country. It brings a big smile to my face, just thinking about it. Still some big ones to be found!

The quality is definately down. 2007 was a good year for horn growth and more good bucks were killed that year than the previous 3 or 4 all put together. This information is from the F&G biologist from the area and who runs the checking station in the Greys. 2008 was back down again. The area got some deep snow this week and if it keeps stacking up it will affect things.
