Wow, a 36" buck was the big attraction in November in an area just off the edge of the Pauns. That was until a local guy showed up in Ceder City to have him mounted. When no tag was present the F&G got involved. The guys story is it was hit by a car. Same guy has been in trouble a couple times before, but he got off. (Cougar & Elk) I don't think his story is going to fly this time. In a rural area like this it's likely people would know if someone hit it with a car. Good luck with that one. I know several of the locals are on here, maybe they can fill in the detalis.

I am a local of this area and never had the oppertunity to view the deer. However I have several friends (videoed and took photo's) who have and he was a great deer. Hit by a car what a crock. The road he was living by winds and twists. In my life I never have seen a deer hit there (not even a doe in 28 yrs). I put a post on here a couple weeks ago asking if anyone could confirm this rumor. This is the first Ive seen of it on here but back home its the buzz around town. I dont know why the Utah DWR has'nt put anything out about it and the local papers have said anything to my knowledge maybe due to the investigation. If all this is true about this it disgusts me and I hope the DWR doesnt sit back anymore and let another slide.

SO ITS A ROADKILL & NOBODY HEARD ANYTHING ABOUT IT TILL NOW???

MUST BE LEGAL TO PICK ROAD KILLS UP DOWN THERE???

YA I KNOW!!!

IF YOU DON'T STOP & GET THE RACK 10,000 OTHER TARDS WILL!!!

I SEEN A GUY ENDANGER HIS LIFE & MANY OTHER LIVES ON A GLARE ICE ROAD TO GET HIM A ROAD KILL 2 POINT PISSCUTTER!!!

Wow first Ive heard of a 36" buck being seen let alone getting poached/run over. What stretch of road ? Where is the guy from ?

I heard of this buck (the possibly poached one) being about 3 miles south of cannonvile on the road that takes you to kodachrome state park. And supposidly another one bigger than that buck got hit 1/2 mile north of cannonville on hwy 12 that was taken by the DWR. Once again all this is hearsay but alot of people I know from that area are talking about it. Until I see somthing in the paper or on the net confirming the poaching or removal of roadkill Ill post it. As far as naming the name of the indivdual in question or where he is from I wont go there he may be innocent or just made a mistake taking roadkill horns. If he did poach it I hope Utah DWR does the right thing. Terrible ending to a great buck either way.

Made a mistake taking roadkill horns?

Taking roadkill horns is illegal. If you do it, you are just as much a poacher as anyone else that illegally takes game. Trust me, theres a bunch of tards out there that would swerve to hit just about anything so they can "take it home." Bull crap if you ask me. I hope they throw the book at this tard and any others who try to take roadkill.

I don't think a guys that picks up a road kill is in the same category as someone that poaches a deer. Be serious. Here in Maryland I call the DNR and they issue me a tag. Seems to me that is more respectfull to the deer than leaving him in the ditch.

Nuthin on the DWR site bout this buck being hit/poached... let's have some proof. Let's have some pics.

In utah we have more of a poaching problem than you do in Maryland.
It opens up too many opportunities to poach if its like that. Besides who wants a deer that has been hit by a car. Thats gotta be some nasty bruised up meat... gross.

So much for the only good buck on the Pauns. I guess now I will have to use my 13 points on another unit.

I saw a big rack some years back in a guys yard so I ask where he killed it and he told me a guy ran the buck over with a tractor while bailing hay one night. Needless to say I thought that was biggest pile of crap I've ever heard. The rack was 34 wide with trash every where.
