This was my first archery buck ever. Not the biggest buck I've taken but I was proud of him for my first archery deer. He was taken in Colorado on a 2nd choice tag after four days of hunting. I hit him a little far back with the 47 yard shot in the evening so we let him go and came back the next morning. After about a 1/2 hour search we found him dead. I thought the mount turned out nice. This was my friends first taxidermy attempt and I thought he did great.

Nice buck! Congrats on it being your first archery buck. As for the taxidermy job....looks fine to me. As long as you're happy with it, that's all that matters.

Marley, I think your friend did an excellent job on your nice buck. Heck of a first bow kill, I especially like the facial features on the mount.

Congrats to both of you on your "firsts"

My friend that did the taxi work is not a frequenter to MM but he would like any constructive criticism that he could get from you guys, especially any taxidermists that may frequent this sight. He is not looking to make a career out of it but he is trying to do his own mounts and maybe a few friends here and there. I think it looks great, especially for a first but I'm no taxidermist either, so any suggestions for him that may help?
