I just posted a thread in the General Hunting forum that contains an email from the Rock Springs MDF chapter dude that he is sending to MonsterMuleys.com sponsors.
Anyway, he doesn't like MonsterMuleys.com. You'll have to read the thread here:
http://www.monstermuleys.info/dcforum/DCForumID5/13780.html

SO, I'm taking Joey's sadness and trying to turn it positive. Just in case Joey does not succeed and MonsterMuleys.com survives, I'm asking you all to post in this thread what you think I should try to do to make this site better.
I feel bad that Joey is sad.

So let's hear it, what can I do here at MM to make this a better place?
(And NO, we're not making it a free porn site)

Serious suggestions only please.

How about a "Whats Broken In Us" thread.

You could be Dr. Phil and we could talk about our hurt feelings and why we are sad. I think Joey could have used this tool.

At some point and time Joey took a wrong turn or perhaps made some bad choices. Without someone to talk about his feelings we are seeing the end result. He just needed a friend. Maybe a shoulder to cry on.

Joey is broken and it may be to late for him but there may be other MMers that can be saved from becoming the next Joey.

I think it is good to talk about these issues.

On a more serious note Brian do I win anything for this advice???

Brian.........I find no fault in this site. In point of fact, it is my all time favorite.

This Joey guy has the problem.

We are left to deduce that, while he is probably a hunter and gun owner, who supports the 2nd Ammendment, he fails to even be aware that there is a 1st Ammendment.

Amen, Nickman. When he finally done sobbing, crying, and asking for change (where have we heard that before?), and he fails to get "rid of this site", in honor of Dr. Phil, we'll ask him, "How is that working for you?"

He'll reply that it's not working at all, ask for your forgiveness, and be right back on here.

I liked the recipe section idea.

Thumbnails in the photo sections, rather than having to click each link . . .

Overall, I visit daily as is. . . so somethings right.

Brian,

I've been on this site almost from the beginning. In fact, I have one of those original MonsterMuley t-shirts for winning a photo contest with one of my big bucks!

I enjoy this site. I visit it daily. There are people on here that just want to bully and pick fights with others, but you will find that anywhere. That is not your fault or this sites fault. The moderators do a good job keeping it clean.

I'm sure this site won't get shut down. If you need more sponsor money, let's talk....I'd be happy to contribute my share.

I made a decision a couple of years ago to support the California deer foundation instead of the MDF. With times being tight I had to scrutinize my discretionary spending. I had been following the thread and didn't have a problem with the auctioning of the hunt to raise money. I do however have a big problem with the way Joey handled the criticism. As a representative of a large organization that does a great deal of fantastic work he should have responded with his personal opinions as an individual. It was a big mistake for him to try and use his position with the MDF to promote a personal vendetta. I would hope someone above him in the organization would step in and correct this reckless behavior. I would also hope that the people that frequent this site would realize that although Joey used his MDF title that this is not necessarily the opinion of the foundation and not let the reckless behavior of one individual taint your view of all the positive things the MDF has done.

Brian,
If this guy is a part of Mule Deer chapter and doesn't like MM then he needs to be replaced in his chapter. MM has never hurt or misrepresented sportsmen of america. MM has connected hunter accross the west to good friends, guides, outfitters and other members.
Personally I have seen some great things come out of this sight. Last winter Prism organized people to donate money to help the deer feeding here in CO. That alone is probably more than this guy has done for his chapter.
Yeah there is some drama on the sight but when you get people who feel strongly about hunting that's to be expected. I like it and will continue to be a part of MM.

Brian,

I am not a major poster, but I have been watching and posting for a long time. I really enjoy the site and have learned a lot and also shared quite a bit with fellow MMers. But through the years, it seems that people have become more harsh, and are looking for fault. I don't think there's a thing you can do about it, but it seems like people are almost afraid to post pictures any more because someone (or several someones) invariably makes negative comments.

There's too much judgement, too much drama, and too little positive support. We just need to recognize that we're all mule deer fanatics and we should accept that some folks are big-time trophy hunters and some are meat hunters and some people just go for the comraderie and fun of it all.

Just keep doing what you do. This is my favorite site and I visit when I can. Thanks to all the good MM members who have shared and helped through the years.

Brian--

He's not denying your First Amendment rights--he's merely going to adversely "AFFECT" you and the site economically by denying you and your sponsors of his immense spending. That's what is great about this country--smart, sensitive guys like Joe can think they're making an impact by protesting or sticking it to the man when in reality; no one cares about their feelings and/or opinion enough to take them seriously. We just mock their dissent.

I'll bet you $0.05 that that guy hasn't made a sponsor-related purchase in his life and if he actually has any sensitive friends their combined embargo won't even make a dent on your pocket.

I applaud your site and think you do an EXCELLENT job regulated the ruckus and keeping things appropriate. Hunters are a "harder" crowd. Language, rants, raves etc. are part of our culture and if guys like Joe are overwhelmed or offended, he's free to pop a few Midol, watch The View and support our Obama and socialism.

In the meantime, I'll keep buying all of your new DVD releases and visiting your sponsors' sites and ensuring that I help spend my way out the recession!

THE SITE IS GREAT. DON'T CHANGE ANYTHING. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AND MOST IMPORTANTLY--THANKS FOR KEEPING OUR APPETITES WET 12 MONTHS A YEAR!

Brian,
I might of missed it but do you have
Joey the cry babies email address???
Maybe all the memebers from this site
could email him and tell him what we think
of him.And who is over his head in the MDF
and do they know what he said and agree with him.
If so either way lets voice our opinions to them.
And by the way this is a great site.............

draft an e mail "petition" type thing and give all MM members the choice of signing it or not and then send it to him :) i'd sign it,,,, but the guys probablly not worth the trouble,,,,

Well, here I go again.Posting when I should just shutup.Joey puts more into this local MDF chapter than most of you guys will ever put into anything. All volunteer hours. He puts heart and soul into it.He over-reacted when someone started bashing our local banquet. You guys can react however you feel you should.Brian made sure his email address was on the post,so you can all send him a nasty letter if you feel the need to.When someone starts bashing your family, you react. Not always before thinking it through.Brian reacted by starting this post to humiliate Joey.He did that out of his own anger and frustration at Joey.Well done,Brian! It's working pretty good so far! There is absolutely no way we are going to oust Joey from his position as co-chair of this chapter! He made a mistake, period. His work is far too valuable to this chapter, and contrary to what someone said,he does support our sponsors as much as possible. And please don't make the lame argument that he will run MM out of business.Pretty obvious that's not going to happen,no matter whether that was his real intention or not.Okay guys,I've got the kevlar on.Fire away!

Back up some here pard. Who sent who the poison letter? Just who threatened Brian's livelihood, his threats of letters to Brian's sponsors, his "co-chair" badge proudly stuck burning a hole on his chest? Who slung insults at the whole site for the actions of a few?

I can understand you taking sides but "Your Man" had the thin skin and look what HE did, not Brian in his own defense!!

LAST EDITED ON Mar-12-09 AT 03:20PM (MST)[p]Brian,
This is why I like this site. It is obvious you are a lot like me. If I had've received an email like that, I would have done the exact same thing. Post it up and make the guy look like an absolute tool. If the guy can't understand why many feel so strongly against High Fenced Hunts, then I suggest he do some serious reading, starting with Val Geist. I live in a High Fence Free Zone. They are illegal here in BC, thanks to the efforts of every day sportsman who voice their concerns to our local orgs like the BC Wildlife Federation. Because we are a High Fence free zone, we are also a CWD free zone. While our neighbors to the east, Alberta and Sask let the money speak and allowed high fence opporators to exist and flourish, we have not. Now look at the difference. Alberta and Sask have been fighting a loosing battle against CWD. They have taken drastic measures including mass culls. Do you think this has been good for the free-ranging mule deer that the MDF says they are wanting to help? Thus far, BC has been able to maintain our CWD free status but there are High-fenced opporations just on the Alberta side of the border in areas like the Peace, and our deer are not restricted from crossing the border. It is my hope that eventually Alberta will grow a brain and shut these high fenced farms down so that the threat of CWD doesn't continue on our borders.

Joey wasn't expressing his stance on high-fence.He would not hunt high fence. His frustration was over the criticism of auctioning that hunt. Was he wrong in what he did?No doubt about it.He's feeling pretty foolish right now.I totally understand Brian's feelings.I probably would have reacted the same.
