CO deer preference point - cheapest tag?

Filling out online shows $325 for the license fee (which I understand is refunded) if you just put in for pp in choice #1. Pref point code 491?

Can you apply for a deer pp using a cheaper deer tag? Whats the code?

I think they don't have doe tags this year (because of winter kill issues).

So, you have to pay the regular tag fee up front.

There are cow elk tags, so you can get the elk point on the cheap.

But, no dice this year on deer.

The CDOW had a mistake in the 2008 draw setup that allowed folks to buy a deer point at a reduced antlerless price. Someone set it up that way by mistake. Elk points always work that way (cow elk price for PP only).

The guy I talked to at the CDOW last year said to enjoy it...because it probably won't happen again!
