Wanted big buck cape

i'm having a set of my grandpas antlers put on a head for him as a suprise. They have been over his fireplace since 1965. But i'm running into problems finding a 26"cape the buck is 9 by 11 and 35" wide . So i need a big cape any help would be greatly appreciated. I'll post pictures asap

Contact Travis Roundy and see what he has. He is "deerbedead" on this board. I bought a beautiful cape from him a few years back that was absoultely gorgeous. He might be able to help you out.

Hunterharry, that cape you posted from Ebay is a total fraud, that is a 13" neck! Not sure what they are trying to pull, especially with a tape in the photo!

Most mature mulie capes in my area are 21-23 at the ears. Not even a lot of mulie forms on the market larger than 24.

You could mount that buck with a 21-22" cape, and it would look fine. Also, rack size has nothing to do with cape size. Diameter of the pedicles, and the distance between the burrs is more important than the neck. I just mounted a 200" buck, and it had a 19" cape.

4000fps, it says right in the Ebay listing that it is not the cape being sold. They just posted the photos to show where the measurements were taken.

As a note...
I've been burned on on ebay & taxidermy.net before with both misrepresentaion and rotten capes before.
I just did a quick search to find this and if it were me I would be cautious as with all internet transactions.
Seems to be a pig in a poke as far as no pics.
4000 makes a lot of sense, & for what it's worth, I have no ties to the seller.
I'd contact him for further assurances that is for sure.
Don't want to see anyone get burned, just trying to help.

HH, I knew that wasn't your cape, and I guess I should have read the auction. LOL

Funny though, I have bought a few capes, sight unseen, and all of them were smaller than advertised. I wouldn't touch a cape now without measuring first. An inch in taxidermy is a mile!

Greg Heil of RE Creation taxidermy (formally of richfield utah now in idaho) has a late season alberta buck cape with a 25' neck for sale. Think he wants about 200.00

Very few deer reach 24 inches so it will be pretty hard to find one. But if the guy Idahotrophyhunter refers really has one that big for sale at 200.00 that would be a dang good price for that big of a cape. I shot one last year up in idaho with a 24 inch neck and had two guys offer me 300 for it. So jump on that great deal!

I had a 210" Typical mounted several years back and needed a new cape for it, we got a 25" off ebay that was really pretty. It cost us about $400. That Deer would have looked absolutely terrible with a 19" neck.....
