The high country is beginning to open up. There is still plenty of snow, but large areas of snow have melted. I'm anxious as heck to get out looking for muley bucks. At what point do you guys start to find muleys in the high country and watch their racks grow?

I usually start scouting at higher elevations about the 2nd week of June. By that time it's usually getting hot and getting close to the temperature it'll be during the hunt. At this time you'll start to be able to tell a little easier how big the bucks are going to be as well. My favorite time to scout is mid to late July but mid June is when I start my efforts.

Junes alittle early for Deer, to see any real size, but its not too early for the Elk. But, you need to start to condition for the season anyway, you just as well do it in the High Country on the days off rather than a stair stepper and tredmill!
