Couple nice bucks there!! If i'm on a decent out of state hunt, those are two bucks that i don't want to see, especially early on in the hunt. I have at least 8 muleys that are "that" class of buck and i try hard to get up into the next class.

I've been lucky enough to hunt some good places and it's tuff to pass on bucks like these but i've done it many times. Usually that's what i end up with though and there's really nothing wrong with those guys, i just want to give it my best attempt to get that monster, that buck of a lifetime. So far, no go but hopefully i'll be after them again this season. Nice pic and Thanks!!

Although I don't get to do out-of-state hunts, I live in Idaho and can do some serious back-country hunts; even two a year. I agree with Sage exactly (two times in one morning....you'll think I've got a crush). Those are the deer that you would love to show the neighbor (so you can brag) but you REALLY want the monster so you can show your dad......or your grandkids will brag about.

Within the shadows, go quietly.

Being as I'm not from muley country, I would be delighted to take either one of those !!!!

"Good mass & long brows"

I would take either of those bucks without hesitation. Opportunities for me have been pretty thin the last several years... even with hunting excellent areas I know pretty well. The past two years hunting I just encountered small bucks, and didn't draw this year, so if I ever draw again the next couple of years and encounter bucks like those, even in the first hour of the hunt, crunch time will be on!!

I wouldn't judge that buck with his head sideways without another view. I try to never judge mule deer from just one angle - he may look decent there, but if he gets up and looks right at you and is 30" wide, opinions may change.

Just my 2 cents.

sorry, but it doesn't take another angle to know that buck ain't turning and being a 30" wide buck, but who cares if a buck is 30" wide? width is the LEAST important thing to look at

JVJ, are these ATK bucks? They look familiar. If so i may have some pics of that one on the left. Took pics of him two years in a row

if you had the tag for where these deer live and you actually shot one then youd be one dumb s.o.b. lmao. they strictly live on private land...... and these are very small compared to others on this property..

You're right, outside width is not that important - but length of main beams and inside spread is a huge part of the scoring systems. This must be around some private ground where deer over 200" are everywhere.

LAST EDITED ON Jun-07-09 AT 03:42PM (MST)[p]I am 99% sure this is out by Copperton making this Kennecott land. Hasn?t been legally hunted in what..... EVER?

Here are a few photos taken last summer that may be on the same property. These have been on the net before but still great to look at.

kennecott does have a draw system for i believe about 4 tags from what employess have told me, i also believe they have just 1 tag for the cwmu system..... also alot of strange looking bucks out there.

strange but some big ones too, but dont eat it you will glow in the dark.

Yes these are ATK bucks..........and i agree there are bigger ones out there on that property....as for the pics above....the first one is dead i belive it was hit by a car like 2 years ago...second one and third one is photoshopped!
the fourth and fith one are legit though, i see these same bucks every year!

The two middle pictures are photoshopped, and not very good either. How many 40" bucks are on that property?! HaHa

I'd shoot either of those two bucks in the original post....no question about it.
