I drew this NM deer tag for the Oct 24-28 season. I was hoping to draw my second choice muzzy hunt to hunt with my partner from NM but I beat some incredible odds and pulled my first choice. I have been researching this tag and it looks like if I really give it an all out effort I might get a chance at a very nice buck. Hoping to speak to someone who has either deer hunted the area or elk hunted. I will never pull this tag again with better than 100-1 odds. Thanks in advance. (Yes my partner elk hunted it many many many years ago so that information is not going to be a real big help to me now)

Congratulations on the tag, I wasn't that lucky as we had put in for that unit. Will you have horses? In good shape to put on some miles? Google has some great "access" to that unit and as am sure you know it is a "migration" type of hunt so you will be weather dependant. I like the fact that if you are hunting on foot that if you had 2 vehicles you can hunt north-south to both access points preferably hunting from south to north with the prevailing wind.

My son and I also drew these tags but for the week before you I think its 17-24 but I will need to check. Any info you can send my way I wil be glad to use and be able to tell you what and where based on what I see a couple days before you get there.
