Choose Your Region and Dedicated Hunters

I am looking for clarification regarding the first 2 weeks of the archery hunt. I have a southern dedicated tag and due to work and want, I wish to hunt the extended wasatch front(Central)opening week.

I talked to the DWR front desk and someone in the dedicated hunter program at the DWR about this and they told me that I have to hunt the southern region...

Is this right information?

Anybody have any specifics on this?

From what i understand you choose the what you want to hunt for the first 2 weeks. This is to limit people from all hunting the southern part of the state, which usually seems to happen. So this should hopefully limit the amount of people that hunt a certain are. I believe that the DWR can switch your request for the first 2 weeks but you have to submit it in writing and maybe pay a fee??? not 100% sure though.

I asked and since I am dedicated they won't let me switch it to Central for the first 2 weeks. I thought the "Extended Wasatch" is different from the Central Region. Can't I just take the test and hunt there on the "Extended"?

Anybody hear anything different? A buddy seemed to remember a post on here regarding this specific issue.

I believe the "Extended Wasatch" only become the "Extended Wasatch after the regular archery season closes. I believe you don't even have to take the online course if you are hunting during the regular archery season.

The way I understand it, if you selected the southern region, then that is where you must hunt during the first couple weeks if you want to hunt.

you have to hunt the southern unit for the first two weeks then you can hunt it after the two weeks are up.

I would take the test and cary it with you always or you might catch some grief

Archery is a year round commitment!!
