I drew a wyoming deer area 102 tag this year. Any suggestions on areas to start focusing on? Any info. on how the deer herds look after the winter kill a couple of years ago and the oil field activity. Any info would greatly be appreciated, I'm a wyoming resident but just have limited time this year due to work restraints. Thank you.

are you a non-res? are you getting an archery tag? The oil rigs have hurt that unit a lot. not only with the all the rigs but they have been walking the entire unit on foot over on Pine Mnt and low flying choppers. Ive still been seeing some ok bucks but they are not coming out as much with all the riggers out and about. Let me know if youve been looking and where you have been. Im heading up in a few weeks to help a guy with antelope archery and hope to get some time to scout a little for deer.

I would leave Pine mountain alone and go over to little mountain. especially on the west side between the mountain and flaming gorge in the cedars. There are plenty of roads on that side, but there are also some canyons that dont have any roads that usually have some nice deer in them. If your limited on time, and want to see a lot of deer, got on top of the mountain, usually not as big, but there are more of them. I have seen some huge deer by currant creek ranch going on and off the property early in the morning and evenings.
