Hey Huntin folks.... Wasn't planning on hunting this year due to an ongoing battle with cancer and medical bills... BUT... A friend of mine purchase a few tags for GMU 41,42, 421... neither of us has hunted this part of Colorado... 2nd season Rifle... Any ideas for a good mule... I am still accumulating point for my hunt of a lifetime...

I've hunted up mud hill rd. and up the battlement trail in unit 42 and had some good hunts but this hunt is not what it once was. There is a lot of 4 wheeler trails that weren't there when I started going but you can still have a good hunt. Get down into some of those canyons to the north of mud hill rd. and you should find some bucks. Good luck with your hunt.

I hunted that exact area last year 3rd season and was very disappointed. Lots of hunters and not a single buck seen. We did find several hides so it looks like some people were successful during second season. Good luck.

Thanks for the information... I do have a few horses that I am bringing so getting away from all the pressure shouldn't be too difficult, any ideas on areas away from wheeler trails.. perhaps foot or horseback traffic only? I usually have been hunting up near craig and hayden off the beaten trail during 3rd season.. But winter kill of 2007 was 80% plus up there... DWR says much better in 41,42, 421 but time will tell!!!

Thanks for the help and ideas...

If any one information on Wyoming REG G, I have hunted it 12 or 13 years... and hunted SE IDaho deer and ELk as well as my home state of UTAH... Just ask!

Thanks Again!

I thought about applying for a 4th season tag in 2010 in 42. Anyone have much success north of Collbran on Battlement Mesa?
