30"buck?

Sweet buck man! What camera is kicking your butt? I have a canon HV30 that i can't figure out how to get the footage on my computer.

Nice buck but I was curious about the camera. I have been looking at the small HD cameras and did not know if they were any good. The price has really come down as always. How clear are they? What do they look like on max zoom? I should buy one before I go to the strip in a few days.

Thanks

that a mini-dv camera right? unfortunately since the footage isnt saved as a "file" you can't simply transfer it to your computer. you'd have to plug it in (usually via Firewire, NOT USB) and have the computer capture the footage (real-time). most editing programs have built in capture modes, but the proper connection needs to be there for it to work.

its a drawback and a pain in the ass, but keeping the dv tapes is a good way to archive (as opposed to files on a computer than can be gone with the click of a button)

here is a video i did a while back with an HG10. edited in Sony Vegas 8 (the latest releases allow you to work with the AVCHD files which is what the canons use.

I went with a hard drive camera, just because its quiet (no tape rolling inside), and easy to transfer the files via USB to any computer. the footage on Vimeo is still HD, but its even clearer in its raw form. they are so cheap now, you really can't go wrong. I prefer the canons myself. you can check reviews on cnet.com

as far as zoom, it stays clear as long as its optical zoom, but stay away from ever using the digital zoom. it just pixelates everything once it jumps into digital zoom.

Sweet buck! Bigger than anything I have ever shot at! Not quite sure he makes 30" though.

Ya I think he is close to 30". Its hard to tell because he never really looks directly at the camera. But that one extra looks like it leans out there a ways. 28"-31"

Thanks Bobby7321 for the advice. I'll give it a try.

I will give you guys the official measurement after I kill him. I think he is closer to 31". That is if I don't kill his big brother that he is running around with.
