LAST EDITED ON Sep-01-09 AT 06:48PM (MST)[p]How goes it,
I took these photos of this enormous non-typical shoulder mount at the gun counter inside the Las Vegas, Nevada location of "Bass Pro Shops" this past July. I was taken back because I had never seen or heard of this buck before, and a buck of this magnitude would definetly make waves if truly legit...which is exactly what leads me to believe that it's somebodys "project" and was carved out of wood? Despite my efforts, I couldn't get anybody at the store to comment on the buck or provide me with any information. After standing there in awe and staring for at least 20 minutes...I couldn't see any obvious flaws or tip-off's that proved to me that it was fake, other than how shiny the antlers are? Yet on the other hand...how could a buck that enormously big, that looks to be well over the 300" mark...be unknown amongst the avid mule deer hunting community? So I'm coming to you guys for further opinions...what do you think?

+1 on the fake. There is one in Sportsman's Warehouse in Midvale, UT that looks way over 300" also. I was wondering if it was fake. Has anyone seen it?

The one at Sportsman's is a fake....but a replica. I talked to someone about that deer and they said that it was real but that the one they had was a replica of the deer. Go in and ask them about it and they will let you know where it was killed.

I asked the guy at the Bass Pro counter about the buck a couple of years ago. For whatever it is worth, he said it was a replica of a buck killed in Colorado. If that was the case, though, I think the real buck would have been posted by now. If you see it in person, it is clearly not real bone, and I doubt it is a replica -- I think it is just a fake.

A bull in a china shop...
That many fragile points and few if any broken off?
Could be a reproduction with some added trash?
Probably just a vivid imagination

The one in sportsman's and the one you are talkin about are both fake they payed decent money for them to.

I just seen the movie The Ringer with Johnny Knoxville and as one of the special guys said "That's A Mother Faker".

I think you should complain to Bass Pro for not saying if the deer is real of not. That makes me question the deer mounts at the St. Charles location.
