Poaching Hotline

This past weekend while out scouting for an upcoming antelope hunt, I came on to a fresh kill, much to my surprise it was a doe deer that had been killed just yards from the road. I know that it was a fresh kill because the carcass was not there the night before and the blood was still wet. Un-aware of any antlerless hunts that were going on in the area I went to call the poaching hotline but I had left all my guides at home. So I marked the location on my GPS and called it in the monument I got home.

So by now you're probably wondering why I started this post. I thought that I would send along a few ideas to help with the problem. That is if you have a cell phone, a PDA, GPS, or some other device that you could program the poaching hotline number in DO SO NOW. You never know when you're going too needed. Had I programmed the number in my cell phone or GPS I could have called the poaching in with in a couple hours of it happening. As it was I could not call it in for several hours latter and now it may be to late for the DWR to get what evidence they need.

Good advise, thanks.

Ya just never know when and where you might see something.

Utah's poaching hotline number is 1-800-662-DEER.
