Back from G........Empty again

Just returned home from a week in G, 6th time in the last 10 yrs with a permit and a hunt with an outfitter, still have never even took the safety off. Every basin we rode in or ridge we hiked had hunters ahead of us, most of them had camps in the basins and on the tops, weather was hot, after 9am the deer were all in the dark timber. Saw plenty of small bucks, nothing interesting though to me. The country is awesome but the hunting really sucks !! I guess I am just frustrated.....again

Sounds to me like you are a glutten (sp??) for punishment. Time to find a new unit and/or outfitter, don't you think.

I figured I would get some smart ass comments, but your probably right, I guess I am just hoping to finally punch a tag there someday after all these years.

What part of G were you hunting in? I will be there Oct 1st camping and Mule Deer hunting around Middle Piney Lake. I will be hiking in to hunt from the roads every morning so I am sure there will be a crowd.

Just got back from G.

I didn't have a tag so it was more for fun than anything. I guess when you don't have the tag you always see animals.

Most animals, from black bear (watched 3), elk nice bull too, to good deer were all at mid elevation.

From what I saw there were too many people up high and I think the mid ground has been over looked.
