New Mexico 2b

So I drew New Mexico 2b and im so excitied. Has anyone else hunted there or had any experience there? Im intrested to find out if it is really a good hunt! I have the second tag in the first week of november.

I hunted 2B late rifle a couple of years ago...... About froze my butt off...... When it rains or snows it gets super muddy, take chains for front axle of your 4X4 better safe than stuck! Get out and walk behind those locked gates. We saw sooo many deer! Just not one I wanted. Down around the lake was good as well as up on the Mtn. toward the Jicarilla. There are so many roads it's stupid. Hold out and find a high spot to glass from. GOOD LUCK!

I had a similar experience in 2006. It rained and the mud was horrific - don't under estimate how bad it can get.

I took my mountain bike and cruised some of the gas/oil roads that are closed to vechicles. Only saw a few other hunters once I was away from the main roads and I saw lots of deer. Not many big bucks but I only had three days to hunt. I think more would have shown themselves after the cold, wet weather set in. They were just starting to show some signs of rutting.

I hunted the northern part of the unit east of the lake and ended up tagging a mid 170s buck.
