Mountains or Hill Country?

This is probably a Ford or Chevy topic but I would like to get the thoughts of everyone.
I am hunting in Wyoming (Ranchester) area, and tossing up the possibility of going up into the Bighorns, or at least the side of them. So what is everyone's thoughts on big muleys, up high or down low?

In the Ranchester area your likely to find some nice bucks in either place...as well as some nice whitetails.

Yeah,
I have been hunting ranch land in the hill country but it has dried up over the years (For reasons I cant figure out). I was thinking the side of the mountain in the Amsden Creek area but don't know if it is worth a damn.

My first choice is always mule deer up high early. However, later in the year, it is very dependent on how many killing frosts up high and the weather in general. Bottom line is I will always be up higher if the deer are there.

That is probably because I live in the "hill country" of Texas and want to hunt a different kind of terrain when I go up north.

venor, ergo sum (I hunt, therefore I am)

High mountains for me. That does not mean that the big ones are up there, its just the place that I LOVE to hunt. fatrooster.

I love ALL mule-deer habitat, but up where I see goats and sheep is my favorite place to be......my 2 cents worth.

I think there are big deer in either (or canyons).

Within the shadows, go quietly.

Seems like you have the chaos of the elk season if you go up to the mountains. Having said that, I am gravitating towards them.
