Dilemma--

I wish I could throw down for the Swaros but I can't make it happen so I need help on the Cabelas Euro 12x50mm versus the Vortex Razor HD 12x50mm. They're within $100 bucks so any help would be appreciated!

Don't have the Vortex but I have the Euros love them, only downfall is they are heavy, Good thing about them, you can return them to Cabelas anytime no questions asked and get full price back to upgrade to the swaro's. Honestly thats my plan.

LOVE MY EUROS 12+50. I TWO WAS CHOOSING BETWEEN THE SAME TWO, AND GOT THE EUROS. AND IT WAS BECAUSE OF THE WARRENTY FROM CABLES THAT I WENT THAT ROUTE. VORTEX WAS TOO KNEW THEN, AND I WAS NOT SURE ABOUT THERE WARRENTY AT THE TIME. THEY ARE BOTH GOOD GLASS, YOU CAN'T GO WRONG WITH EITHER OF THEM. JUST MY 2 CENTS.

Not anymore... Cabelas changed their return policy, ask them about it next time you're in there... It sucks...

How much are the Euros? The Razors have a $150 rebate on them right now... They are only $720!!! I love the Razors.

10x42 Euros are on sale for $699.99, plus they're running a promotion where you can get another $100.00 off if you use a Cabela's Club Visa.

compared the vortex 10x42 viper to my swaro 10x42 els.Very close! those vipers are some awesome glass for the money, and as has been said, their warranty can't be beat. While the glass is very good I do not think the durability of the vortex line is as good as the swaro. My brother has sent back 2 spotting scopes that have literally broke in half. They use a plastic piece that connect the two pieces of the scope together. On a positve note the scope was replaced quickly......no questions asked. i believe vortex to be the best bang for your buck!

CSO is right about the Cabela's new return policy. It will cost you money to gaurantee your return from now on. They have teers set up and depending on how long you want your warranty will set the cost. If you ask me, Cabelas shot themselves in the foot with this new deal. Their prices aren't good enough to do that.

It's always an adventure!!!

I have had vortex for the last year and love them I broke an I piece and returned and got a new pair out of it the warranty rocks on them great glasses I have never put them up against the euro but I would say they are really worth there wieght and gold..... +1 for vortex

Guys-- I bought the Razors. They're unreal! Wasn't impressed by the euros. Thanks for the feedback!

Good thing we have choices because I thought the Euro's kicked the Razor's azz, and I owned both.

The only reason I bought anything at Cabela's was the warranty. If that's gone I won't be buying through them anymore. There's way too many options and most of them are lower priced.

addict hey i have swarovski slc 10/50's and my nephew has the euro's and have had them side by side and cannot tell any quality difference in them at all. both are excellent glass.
+1 on watching for cabella's deals take the discount $ flyer they send in the mail and any other options you can round up and go for the euro's and you will have as good as swaro's in my OPINION and will be extremly happy.

LAST EDITED ON Oct-15-09 AT 11:38AM (MST)[p]If you look in the classifieds, someone is selling a used pair of Leica Trinovids, 10x42 for only $700. They are not mine, but I have personally seen them and can vouch that they are mint. For the same price you could set up to one of the finest brand optics on the world.

My dad has has both. I like the Vortex the best.

I can see why Cabelas has had to make you buy a warranty. It was a good deal but when you have people like JDElec that flat out admit that he is going to use the Cabelas brand until he gets more money and then take them back to get full price and trade them on something else, what else you going to do?
I am not just calling out JDElec either, notice I said people like him? I am sure there are plenty of people who have done this and that is why they have done it.
I also agree that their prices aren't good enough to make you want to buy the warranty.

Keep in mind that the people at the optics counter are the ones telling customers about the option to upgrade. They flat out told me that if you don't like them or just want to upgrade you can just bring them back and get credit towards a new pair. Thats the reason I bought my bino's from them. If they thought it was a problem they shouldn't have let their sales staff tell everyone.

I had the euros for a year and now own Vortex Vipers. The Euros are great, ergonomically the Vipers feel better for me. Optically, very little difference and I have spent A LOT of time behind both. I also saw that the "upgrade trade in" days are over at Cabelas. Sucks, because I traded in a pair of Alaskan Guides towards my Euros and it was a great deal. Had to send my nomad to Vortex once and had it back in a week. Top notch company to deal with.

I too just ordered a pair of the Vortext Razor HDs. Even with all the claims that they're as good as Swaro's I just don't buy it, however, for my price range these are the best deal I can manage and like has been said the warranty is unbeatable. The fact that so many guys claim they're as good as Swaro's says something about the quality, even if they're not quite there.

LAST EDITED ON Oct-19-09 AT 07:48PM (MST)[p].....and the $150 mail in rebate makes them $700. That fact, along with the warranty makes them one heck of a deal in my book!
