Montana whitetail help needed

We drew our general tags, but lost our place to hunt because the ranch was sold. I'm looking for a place to hunt whitetails, preferably in the NW part of the state. It looks like there is some public land up there, but having never been in that part of the state I haven't a clue where to go. We would like to go in mid November. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

LAST EDITED ON May-21-07 AT 10:18AM (MST)[p]You can go just about anywhere on public land here and get whitetails. Big ones too. Obviously in the more low-lying areas and foothills. If you hike up the mountains, you can get into muleys. Its not a problem to get into whiteys.
Call of the Forest Service offices and have them send you one of the big COLORED travel maps. Don't know what town you will be near. You can call the Kootenai NF office if around Libby or Eureka, or the Flathead NF office if you coming near Kalispell, or Lolo or Bitteroot NF if near Missoula/Hamilton. You will all the "green" on those maps, all free for you to hunt.
If you are coming near Kalispell, pm me and I can give you some more specific places where there have been some Booners killed.

Still looking for info. Would like to find a place around the Libby area. PM me if you have info. Thank you.

I know this will probably sound like I'm being difficult, but whitetails are EVERYWHERE in NW MT. I'd would recommend staying west of HWY 93, with the exception of the Swan valley. If you're going to Libby, try somewhere along the Fischer River and HWY 2 towards Kalispell. But really, any of the stuff that lies between HWYs 2 and 93 and the Idaho border is good. Gated roads are everywhere and just start walking them until you hit sign. Watch clearcuts, make drives, standard whitetail stuff. But really, they are EVERYWHERE there. I lived in the Flathead for 21 years.

This is my post

I've just pissed in my pants.......and nobody can do anything about it.

Not difficult at all, that's exactly what I wanted to hear. We've hunted Whitetails in Idaho for years, and I always wondered if just across into Montana was the same or not.
