I can't believe no one has killed anything over there. Even if you don't have pics lets here some stories, but pics are always better.

Just got back today, unit 61. Saw a ton of elk, 4 bears, 1 mountain lion, lots of turkeys. Mountain lion tracks everywhere we went. No deer up high. Not much in the middle. Tough hunt. Went down to Nucla, deer everywhere on private property. Saw some small deer very low on BLM, one 4x4 26" taken in our party, and 2 small meat bucks. Was kinda dissapointed for 5 pnts to draw. Maybe our fault, not in the right places, or hunting the wrong areas. The one nice deer we got had a perfect 22round in his neck healed under the hide, a sign of poaching. Thats why they call it hunting and we didnt win! Met some locals who said 61 and 70 have been pretty tough this year. Just opinions.

Most guys won't tell you where they killed their buck. So asking a guy to post a picture of his buck killed in either of those units might not get much response. I have been suprised that there haven't been more Colorado bucks shared on this sight this season. We would all like to see some success photos and stories so if you got to hunt this fall please share your pictures and stories.

JC, I was thinking the exact same thing. Seems like in years past there were always a ton of good Colorado bucks posted. I haven't seen many this year and after that big snow storm right before 3rd season I was expecting good things. Please keep them coming.

I didn't hunt in either of those units but was able to get one in another. Ended up with a buck that grossed 198 5/8ths. He's a non-typical 6 X 6 with 10 inches total of extras. One side has 3's and 4's over 14". Only buck I saw on opening day that I could go after. All the others were on private land. The private stuff was LOADED with deer and elk. All the locals and outfitters we talked to said they had dropped out of the public stuff earlier this year. All in all a tougher hunt than we expected. We ended up seeing several other deer crossing public into private which were in the 200s. Now that I know the area, and where the public access points are, I will do it again next year.
