RE: Colorado Units 71 and 711?

My dad has this tag also for 3rd season rifle. We hunted it last year and learned the unit a bit. It seemed to get a lot of pressure, but we did see a few good bucks and never pulled the trigger. Does anyone have any info as to what elevation the deer are hanging at this week? Did they move early? Any helpful hints would be very much appreciated as I would like to get my dad a chance at a good buck.

THANKS!

Those units deer are still at all elevations as we haven't really had any weather good enough to get them moving. We saw a decent 4x4 (about 23-24 inch spread) opening morning feeding in the oak brush, watched him for about 15 minutes. That was below McPhee Dam near Dolores. Lots of other deer around as well. Also heard reports of Boggey Draw producing well so far this year too.

Was in the area on the 2nd season rifle and the deer are still scattered. Maybe the weather in the next couple of days will get them moving.
