What a beautiful framed Buck!!

Any other guys feel like i do, that in this case, that drop tine takes away from the huge typical main frame. It's there so it's there but if it were my buck, i'd almost prefer that it wasn't.

Joey

WOW!!!! That is my dream buck! Looks like another drop cheater coming off his back fork too. I'd much perfer the rack with the droppers than without. Net score is over hyped. Who cares about the book when it comes to a WHOPPER like that.

You guys just don't know what looks good! j/k

To each his own on a great buck like this. I just made a comment for discussion on my first thoughts. I question though, how many clean 200+" typical main frame bucks we see. Common is not a word i would use and net, score, or Book, had nothing to do with my opinion.

Joey

does anyone know if the guy actually shot the buck or if it just fell over dead after gazing directly at the mustache?

You can't see it in the pic's, but he's also got a 4" dropper on the right side.

Wow! Unbeleivable good buck.

Joey, you could always use a hack saw and a file. j/k:)

That big square boxy rack is SAWEEEET!

"Yeah, I'll shoot him"

Awesome buck. I have to agree with Joey on this one the droptine is huge but even without it that buck is incredible. Congrats.

G-4s!

WHAT a buck! As nice as the frame is, as heavy as the mass is, as deep as the rear forks are, those G-4s blow me away, not to mention the main beam length and droppers! Simply astonishing!

RE: G-4s!

Preacher, Welcome to the Board! What a great buck you shot!! Would you mind telling us how you came across this toad buck? A short story of the hunt and some details about your buck? Thanks!

Joey

RE: G-4s!

Well, long story short. It was a downpour of rain half the morning, then the fog rolled in. Ten or fifteen minutes after the fog cleared, I spotted him about 800yds away. We snuck in to 507yds away,(my excellent hunting partner and I) and the .300 Rem. took care of buisness!

welcome to the site, but there must be some mistake cause thats my dream buck you have your hands on.....LOL

RE: G-4s!

Really, congrats on shooting my favorite buck o the year. If you get a chance, tell us where you got him (general area of course) and post up a score. You just made many guys on here extremely jealous. Welcome to MM!

RE: G-4s!

Southeast Idaho. I've had him scored three times, and all I can say is he's somewhere around 220".

RE: G-4s!

W-O-W!!! What an incredible buck Preacher!! That's what dreams are made of right there. Great shot on a great buck, that'll be a tough one to top in a lifetime. I love the drop tine and charachter... give me that unique buck over a big typical frame anyday. Character is far more important to me than score, books, etc. I hope you've got a special spot on the wall for that big guy, he deserves. it.

Welcome to the site and many thanks for filling in the details, us fellow sportsmen appreciate it!

LAST EDITED ON Nov-01-09 AT 08:58AM (MST)[p]What a great buck congrats.
I was guessing around 210 gross but kept coming up short.
Just the typical frame looks like it's 205 plus to me.
What did the typical frame go?

Wow Preacher! Congrats on the buck of a lifetime! Heck of a shot too. I think I may have actually seen that buck three years ago as he passed through the winter range. He look pretty much the same but with a 160 type frame and the dropper looked more like his main beam that drooped down. Of course, I could be wrong but that would be cool if it was. PM me some time.
Dan

Preacher, you said you had him scored 3 times making me think that you would be interested in seeing if he would make B&C book. I'm thinking that "with" the drops he just might make it as a nontyp and with the drops as a deduction, he still might have the 190 needed.

Am i correct, after the drying period, he might make book in both categories? That in itself is pretty rare on a buck. As mentioned above by several, the Book and score are not that important and even less so to some but there's a pretty good group of us that would be agreeable to have their nice animals entered. I have a feeling that no matter where your buck "places" in the book, if so, it's net score is just not going to do it justice.

Heck of a buck and a neat way to come on the Monster Muley forums! Thanks again!!

Joey

I want to know for sure if he'll make book or not, but it really doesn't matter if he does, just curious. Probably won't make it for non-typ,but it will be super close. And I think he should make it in typical.

He wont book nt dont think he has 230in of horn but that is a huge framed deer.I bet he would be close for ty. dont look like he has that much deduction on his frame.

Thanks Preacher! You sure are being a good guy, especially under the circumstances, about sharing info and i'm sure there are lots of guys out there that thank you as well. One final question from me and i'll let you be...

Are you one of the guys that are used to getting huge bucks most of the time or was this buck unexpected and way better than anything else you've ever taken?

Thanks Again and Congrats!!

Joey

Best buck I've taken so far(probably never get one this nice again), but I am always looking for the Big Daddy.

Those G4's are amazing. Love the dropper as well. Can you tell us what those G4's measured. He will look amazing on the wall.

Holy ##### main beam batman. I wonder if he will net book.... Let us know man nice deer.

SASKMAN don't have the numbers with me. But if I remember right the G-2's were around 18". The front drop-tine was 8 3/4" the back one was 6 1/2" long.

amazing deer. congrats on a great trophy

Preacher...... On the first thread it says that this buck was shot near Jackson Wyoming..... How close was it to there? I live near there on the Idaho/ wyoming border. I hunt wyoming. Is this a idaho buck? Good to know those genetics are out there if you did kill it near me. i dont need to know the drainage or anything... maybe the county?

Congratulations Jared. You don't know how hard it has been for me to sit on all your pics, and not tell a soul. Glad it made it to the forum, and welcome to MonsterMuleys. Dave and I will try to find his brother over the next 3 weeks, with the muzzleloader.

It definately adds to it. I'd take that buck over a perfect main frame any day.

I can understand how those that have seen or taken only a few if any big mature trophy bucks in their life :) could wish to think that a couple trash points "only add" to a otherwise abolutely frigging Giant Typical buck.

Typical 5x5's in the 130-170 class are a dime a dozen, always have been. Clean 200+ typicals, are a certain rarity, much rarer than any 7X8 with the same kind of frame.

As i said above, this is a "to each his own" deal and wasn't looking for insults. I'm just getting a kick outa some of you guys comments!

Joey

Well, I guess to each his own.

You could pass on it if you saw those "ugly" droppers and find a perfect one.

Please let me know if you decide not to shoot it, as I on the other hand, would knock down my mother in law for a shot at that.

May be the all around nicest buck I have seen posted this season.....just my opinion of course.

It's like I told my 5 year old son the other day. It doesn't matter how big the animal you harvested is, its if your happy with it that makes it a trophy.

Nickman, Please don't put words in my type! "Ugly" is your word, not mine!! I guess i should know better that to try a hypothetical question on this forum. Some guys understood where i was coming from and others think i'm "high" and am trying to somehow put this buck down. Wrong!!!

Oh well, it was just food for thought guys and i at no time ever said or implied that this was not a Monster Muley that anybody, for sure myself included, would love to take and have on their wall!!

Again, Great buck and Congrats to the hunter!!

Joey
