Not a monster compared to most of the deer posted here, but the biggest deer of my life! (I'm 41)

Only negative was that I was hunting by myself, and the camera on my backpack ended up focusing on a clump of grass instead of the deer in the timed shots. Lesson learned there.

Took him by the house before going to the taxidermist and got a picture with my son. He thought it was pretty neat.

I posted close to a novel on the hunt on my blog with all the details if anyone is interested - http://padens.blogspot.com/

I've still got a smile on my face!!

Congratulations. I've done a lot of those by-myself-so-the-pictures-aren't-there hunts.

Getting your best is great......the look on your son's face is GREAT!!

Within the shadows, go quietly.

That is a GREAT deer ...... don't apologize for him a bit. I assume he's a sandhills buck; most people have no idea the quality of bucks out there. Way to go!!

LAST EDITED ON Nov-10-09 AT 08:59AM (MST)[p]Thanks for the comments everyone. I am very happy with him and am going to be very proud to have him on my wall.

I'm hoping my son will love hunting the way I do. My best memories of my dad are the times we spent out hunting when I was a kid. He turns 3 next month so he still has a while before he can go out with me, but he already has his Texas Lifetime hunting license and he is starting to go out with me when I do some light trapping in the winter.

He seems to really like it. Instead of shooting, he refers to it as "Booming" so in his words, "Daddy Boomed a big deer!". ;-)
