Joel, I have hunted the late muzzy season around Priest River. It is a fun season because the rut around here starts about Thanksgiving and run into December and most of the time there is snow on the ground. In my opinion there are a fair amount of nice bucks but no Boone and Crockett type animals. Like anywhere, land around agriculture yields more animals as the density in the actual forest is about 2 per sq. mile which is scarce. I know guys that hunt out of tree stands over drip scents that do well, but I have never gone that route. I do like using scent wafers though. Those units are large and you would need to zero in on an area and scout it out. In my opinion, you would need to be an Idaho resident to make it worth your time, as $226 for a whitetail is ridiculous. For what its worth, I don't see very many deer in country where you would find elk. Units 4 and 7 have popular elk areas in them and a lot of that type of country. Look for rolling hills with agriculture within a mile and stay away from 30 degree slope type country. Hope this helps and good luck!!
