One Eyed Buck

I have seen a few one-eyed bucks and wondered if the loss of the eye makes them easy pickins for predators? It seems like I usually only see them during or right after the rut, but I don't seem to notice any at any other time of the year. I wondered if this might be because they get killed easier after the loss of half their vision? Maybe it is because the rut is when I get the closest to bucks? Have any of you ever harvested a one-eyed wonder that looked to have been missing an eye for a while?

Here are photos of a couple one-eyed management bucks.
One from last Nov. A forks-in-the-back 3 point.

One from today. I liked this buck, nasty 2x3 with a couple cheaters.

I have encountered bucks with either eye injury or missing an eye on several occasions- despite the injury, they appeared to be fairly healthy. Once last year, I video-taped a big 3pt. buck as he ran parallel to my truck; only when I put the footage on the big screen did I realize that I was getting his blind side! I took this one this summer, he appears to be blind , or have some sort of eye injury. Someone posted a month or so ago he was still roaming his baileywick.
