"Award" vs "Book"

I was reading a post in the hunting forum where the topic of all-time vs award book came up. Do you think its worth entering a buck in the B&C "180" award book (as opposed to the all time 190 book)? Since the buck is only entered for 3 years is there any limit on how long ago the buck was shot to still be entered?

I have a buck that I believe could be measured at just over 180 net. I was thinking it might be cool to have the official B&C certificate to go along with the mount.

For me it would have to go into the "book" for me to get it measured but what ever floats your boat man if you got one that will make it into the awards go for it.

Getting a B&C "Award" is like getting a trophy just for playing in the league. Book or bust baby!

I would love both.

You should absolutely get your buck measured. If it "only" makes the awards book, who cares!! A 180 class mule deer is a once in a lifetime trophy for any deer hunter!

Besides just getting your name in the book, it will give your trophy the recognition it deserves for all eternity.

Do it!

Huh? Maybe for you but not for "any"!

Lots of people are saying that 170, 160 class bucks are trophies too...especially guides and outfitters ;-)

I killed the smallest out of state buck i've probably ever brought home this year yet i like the heck outa it, it was a trophy to me. That said, i'll not book until i can make the All Time Records of North American Big Game. Then, i'm old school. To each his/her own!

I'm too lazy to scan a decent pic so here's one I took with my phone than shows the rack pretty well.

Who cares about books... If it was really just about the 'animal' then don't put your name in with it, just the place it was killed.

Heck yea! I would enter into the awards book. They issue an awards book every couple years and it would be listed in there. 180 NET is darn nice buck.

Besides, my best friend is the official measurer around here, so he would make me.:)
